What is the meaning of the passage of the ten virgins (Part 8)?

*10 – NUMBER FIVE*: Indicates Jesus’ grace and the responsibility of the man in regard to it.

I) Joseph gave to Benjamin 5 times more blessings than to his other 10 brothers. With this, Joseph was proving to his 10 brothers the importance of being committed with the love in order to receive his grace.

• Gen 43:34 -> “Portions were taken to them from Joseph's table, but Benjamin's portion was five times as much as any of theirs. And they drank and were merry with him.”.
• Gen 45:22 -> “To each and all of them he gave a change of clothes, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred shekels of silver and five changes of clothes.”.

II) During 5 years Joseph proposed to grace his kinfolk, being responsible for him them:

• Gen 45:11 -> “There I will provide for you, for there are yet five years of famine to come, so that you and your household, and all that you have, do not come to poverty.’”.

III) In order to receive the grace of the pardon, the sinner should be responsible enough to confess his sin and making full restitution adding the fifth part of it.

• Num 5:6,7 -> “ “Speak to the people of Israel, When a man or woman commits any of the sins that people commit by breaking faith with the LORD, and that person realizes his guilt, he shall confess his sin that he has committed. And he shall make full restitution for his wrong, adding a fifth to it and giving it to him to whom he did the wrong.”.

IV) In order to do the dedication of the altar (considering that the tabernacle with all its furnishings had been anointed and dedicated, therefore, the altar, here, is the altar outside the tabernacle). Note the presence of the number 5 in almost all animals in the sacrifice of peace offerings (the offer which confirms the grace that they received of the Creator and the responsibility of keeping His commandments in order to conserve this peace with Him):

• Num 7:11 -> “And the LORD said to Moses, “They shall offer their offerings, one chief each day, for the dedication of the altar.”.
• Num 7:17 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Nahshon the son of Amminadab.”.
• Num 7:23 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Nethanel the son of Zuar.”.
• Num 7:29 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Eliab the son of Helon.”.
• Num 7:35 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Elizur the son of Shedeur.”.
• Num 7:41 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.”.
• Num 7:47 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Eliasaph the son of Deuel.”.
• Num 7:53 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Elishama the son of Ammihud.”.
• Num 7:59 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.”.
• Num 7:65 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Abidan the son of Gideoni.”.
• Num 7:71 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.”.
• Num 7:77 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Pagiel the son of Ochran.”.
• Num 7:83 -> “and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Ahira the son of Enan.”.

V) 5 was the kings quashed by the Creator through His grace which He poured on Joshua so that he could fulfill the responsibility which he assumed before the Gibeonites:

• Jos 10:16,17 -> “These five kings fled and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah. And it was told to Joshua, “The five kings have been found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.””.
• Jos 10:22,23 -> “Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me from the cave.” And they did so, and brought those five kings out to him from the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.”.
• Jos 10:26 -> “And afterward Joshua struck them and put them to death, and he hanged them on five trees. And they hung on the trees until evening.”.

So, have a good day.

Tomorrow we will carry on.
