To worship Him in spirit and in truth. It's a condition of the heart.

That was in yesterday's mass readings.

Thanks for answering Diligently seeking God.
Amen.
I'm wondering what the highest form of worship is though,
EX, in the RCC, the highest form of worship is the body of Christ...

It would be more proper to say the highest form of worship in the Catholic Church is the Holy Sacrifice of the Eucharist. :crossrc:

In Jewish thought, many believe the 'highest form of worship' is studying/reading the Word of G-d, and I have come to believe there is great merit in this understanding, and it is actually part of my everyday experience.

This is not a mere accumulation of biblical knowledge, or studying for the need to understand, but it is coming reverentially to Scripture, submitting yourself to it and determining to do what is revealed because in it we find the heart of G-d, the ways of G-d, the wisdom of G-d ...it is in the working out of Scripture in our lives that we understand and gain knowledge...rather than hearing, giving intellectual assent and never really owning or experiencing what has been revealed...In many ways it is described as the difference between a Greek approach and Jewish approach...one focuses on knowledge and understanding, the other on obedience and action...although I believe there can be a fusion of the two.

I see this approach as being very compatible with the idea of worship in spirit and in truth. Truth can be defined as the Word of God (the Bible as well as the person of Jesus Christ) and spirit is compatible with the commandment to love God with all our body, soul, and spirit. Thus, when Christ spoke to the woman at the well He told her that worship was not a place, but was a means - truth and spirit -which the Father, who seeks worshippers, desires.

What God wants from us is love. He wants us first to love him. We do that by hearing and living his Word.

(Matthew 7:21-23) “It is not those who say to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, who will enter the kingdom of Heaven but the person who does the will of My Father in Heaven. When the day comes many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, work many miracles in your name?’ Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, you evil men!”

God want us to love each other.

I think the highest form of worship is also the lowest form of worship (as in, low to the ground) ;)

I think the highest form of worship is being able to trust and obey with absolute uprightness of heart. To be able to sacrifice all things so that God can be glorified...Worship is being able to Glorify God... in all that you do or in all that He requests...

When Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac, notice what He says.. Gen22:5And Abraham said to his young men, Abide you here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

:wave:Hey Sun what He wants is ALL OF US...

^How could anyone possibly be offended by Frank?? ;)

Great stuff, thanks

Sorry ...can't stand Frank, and thought he was a pretty unpleasant individual when alive....so I never listen to him, and my all time worse song is 'My way'...followed closely by John Lennon's 'Imagine'...rant over.

What does He want??

Good question, as well as a hard one to answer correctly.

Worship has a result, and I believe that result to be a closeness with GOD. What is it that we do which makes us long for GOD, to desire Him and His presence, to want that flow of power from Him to those around us?

For me, I find myself closer to GOD when I wait on Him and bow before Him during prayer. I can also pray in the Spirit to Him, but I find that the more quiet and reverent I am to Him during my alone times with Him has the greatest results.

Wow! I am amazed at the answers to this thread’s question.

God does not care if people talk to him if they do not obey him.

Bowing down to him does not mean anything unless one is an obedient servant.

Telling God you love him does not mean anything; because what you do speaks so loud he can’t hear you.

We are to be obedient slaves to God, which is what he wants. If we do that then we will be friends with him.

Yea, yea, right giver, whatever man.

If you can't just provide your answer without faulting all those that you disagree with in the same sentence, why provide it and create a dispute?

Um... perhaps you didn't read my post here: http://www.christianforums.com/t7547424/#post57083301 and my previous
post to that one, post #2. And you could be a bit nicer in your responses. Colossians 3:17 is a good reminder of that.

I'm going to expound on what I said before...
serve your fellow man by giving your time to help those less fortunate than you are,be it through a soup kitchen, meals on Wheels, Donating to the local food bank, Helping Habitat for Humanity...but do it IN HIS NAME...
Ministering to your fellow man is the Highest form of praise.
