I'ld say this:
- fact: a piece of data, an observation
- evidence: a fact or set of facts that support a certain idea / hypothesis / theory
- proof: a fact or set of facts that prove a certain idea / hypothesis / theory

What does it take to convince a scientist, a scientific community, and the general public of the correctness of a scientific result in the era of very complicated experiments, big data, and weak signals?

Evidence.
Science only very rarely deals with "proof".

Evidence is something which either:

a.) Verifies a theory, because it corresponds to what the theory would have predicted (The theory correctly predicts the observed orbit of a planet).

b.) Falsifies a theory (The theory does not correctly predict the observed orbit of a planet), or

c.) Suggests that a theory is basically correct, but needs refining. (Prediction of a planets orbit differs from observation, but not by much).


A fact is a statement about something which corresponds, or appears to correspond, to the reality of that something. So it appears to be a fact that Henry VIII had Anne Boleyn executed, but there remains the extremely remote possibility that historians have, to a man, all misinterpreted the evidence.


Strictly speaking a proof is something which deduces a conclusion from a set of statements, regarded as axiomatic, through the application of formal logic. Less strictly speaking, something can be regarded as provisionally proven if it has been repeatedly and often verified.

The computer is not a machine it is a processor. I will make this all easy for you. I can name this tune in one note: "outsiders". The computer was given to us by people like Steven Job. All of these people have something in common, they are outsiders. Science could not give us what only an nonconforming outsider can produce. In fact the very reason we are against science is the very reason you can not give science credit for having discovered the computer. They may have improved and developed the computer but they did not discover it.

Really? According to the Americans the first computer was ENIAC, built in 1947, and according to the British it was Colussus, built during the Second World War. Way back in the eighties personal computers which copied IBM's design were known as clones of the IBM PC.

IBM came up with the original computer and Bill Gates produced the operating system.

Wrong again. Tim Patterson wrote the operating system for Seattle Computer Products, and it was subsequently acquired by Microsoft.
