Aside from a few units the Army is generally not such a great place to be. I would advise my daughter to join the Marines, Air Force, or Coast Guard before the Army. I was a Sergeant in the active duty Marine and Army reserve. While I did well with my time in the service, my friends and their families have faced hardships since 911 and the frequent deployments.

Whatever you do keep in mind when you join the service your body becomes government property and it goes where and does what the government wills it. If you have any promising options other than military service open to you I urge you to pursue those before signing your life away for a time.

If you are determined to join the military I can promise you without reservation the Corps offers the greatest challenge along with the most lucrative opportunity. If you think you have what it takes, go for it!

Let me guess this straight: You are artistically oriented, and musically talented, and you want to go in the Army? Whatever for?

To me, the Army is for those who violently oppose all forms of anarchy, evil and military aggression. Those who would kill/destroy/debilitate the enemies' ability to harm the innocent.

For those who see the truth that violence is a solution for the evil forces of this world who have refused truth, peace and righteousness, and have transgressed past all other, more peaceful solutions.

Not everyone is cut out for military life, son, and you don't sound like you are, based on what little you have shared. Please expand more on what your goals are for joining any military force. If the thought of sowing mayhem and destruction amongst those who want to murder the innocent is not your cup of tea, you can find far more suitable employment in the civillian sector.

The military is all about carefully applied violence and/or the threat thereof to cause an enemy to conform to your will. If this is not a core value of yours, then what are you doing going in the Army, or any military?

You can make far more money, and reach far more people, in the civillian sector than you can in the military.

I think that chaplins are awsome but the fact you cant have a gun and they send you over to warid be afraid of getting shot without protection

archangel, you're a chaplain assisstant? My ex-boyfriend (long time ago, 6 years) was a Chaplain assisstant, and my husband's ex wife was one. We were at Fort Rucker at the time.

My husband is in Army Reserves. You should really pray about it before joining. Our life has been turned upside down. Stress you cant imagine unless your there. He is leaving to mobilize for deployment in 3 weeks. He will be there 1 month then off to Iraq for 18 months. They are using every reservist they can. He has females leaving to iraq with his unit too. Not just men. Without the Lord I dont know how anyone makes it. I put all of it in his hands and just go on. Pray is all you can do. Hope that what I see on TV isnt going to happen to my husband.

Sorry, just wanted you to get the perspective from someone going through this and knows how military is right now.
