Which denomination do you belong to?
You go in the back, put on your robe (depending on the church - not all use robes - I recommend them if you happen to be a woman and you wore white)What is the "procedure" followed for being baptized there? (i.e which prayers are used.) I want the "step by step" how it's done.
The preacher makes the customary joke that he's going to hold you under because you didn't bring donuts.
You walk to the baptistry, the preacher cusses the sextant under his breath for not warming it up first.
The preacher asks you if you have trusted Christ as your savior, you say "Yes", he tells you to cross your arms and down you go.
"I baptise you in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit" You go under (yes, you can hold your nose). Then, while you are under "Crucifed with Christ, raised to new life in Him". You're brought up, everyone cheers, amazed that the preacher didn't drop you, and then they proceed to a hymn (picked out by the victim, er, baptisee). Then we eat chicken.
No. First of all, baptism is something that is an outward sign of the salvation you've already recieved. Is it necessary to be baptized for salvation?
Second, you wouldn't be allowed to be baptised until you've attested that you have recieved Christ, taken your new believers' class (sometimes taught by yours truly) and been counseled.
Sometimes but not necessarily. You can also get in if you have a letter from another church. Is it necessary to be baptized to be "welcomed" as a member of that denomination?
Yes. I was brought up in the Methodist church, where I was sprinkled as a baby. When I became a Christian, I went to a baptist church and got baptised there. If you ever "switched" to another denomination, did you get baptized there?
