What is something you wanted and prayed for a long time and it took God a while to answer?

For at least 8 years I prayed for a Godly wife who would really love me, who was smart, and would match personalities and desires well with me.

I wasn't necessarily happy that the answer was delayed, but I'm certainly happy with the result. Before I met her, I met 2 ladies who wanted to marry me, and another that I was blindly crazy about, who didn't. All of these would have been disasters.

Married 26 years and counting...

Finding a wife. He delayed it because I was desperate and made love my idol instead of letting Him be my priority. Met my wife at 31. Another prayer I am waiting for is healing, but I will never cease praying for it and realize whatever the outcome, He knows whats best.

I prayed to become a preacher and i'm glad the answer was delayed because I wasn't ready when I asked. Sure I knew tons of bible verses and could (still can) quote them like it's nothing...but I didn't understand the context/doctrine behind the verses I knew, I also had to grow in certain areas first.


The answer wasn't what I expected tbh, I was called to do a 5 minute sermonette sort of thing and God moved in and I went on for at least 10 min. Then not long after that was called again to preach an official sermon and yeah that was the start.


TBH I expected for the answer to be more like... eh idk... obvious, I expected to hear a voice or see some divine sign or something, and I expected it earlier as well becuase I was feeling a calling for preaching even before I was even saved.


Now there are a few things I'm praying about that ironically are being delayed yet again haha becuase God knows i'm not ready, or maybe the other person/thing or whatever isn't set yet.
