Part of the issue here is that "poor" is a relative, arbitrary word. What we call poor in America would be considered upper middle class in a lot of the world.I wouldn't want her teaching either. But not because I am black or white. But because Poor Children come in all colors and need understanding and support. I would fear she would give off an attitude to the children. All children
Yea that is crazy. This has been happening a lot. People will reference things you’ve said years ago and it can happen to anyone.

I am poor white trash and proud to be so. God gives a special blessing to the poor. I consider myself a white trash millionaire.I am caucasian, and a black friend of mine once referred to 'white trash' in a conversation. I would guess the 'privileged' demographic the person was describing might include those who are considered by some to be 'white trash'.
I was a little shocked that my friend used such a term, as I thought it sounded a little racist. Then, much later on, I realised that they must be so comfortable talking to me that they forgot I wasn't one of their black friends.
Life is weird sometimes!
It troubles me that you can now get fired for expressing a view on social media.
Either that or they just don't care, because they have the privilege of not having to care. Then, much later on, I realised that they must be so comfortable talking to me that they forgot I wasn't one of their black friends.
In most states you can be fired for any reason other than discrimination (if you are a protected class.). You can be fired because your boss doesn’t like your hair, or because you stand up for yourself. This is nothing new and it’s Republicans who always fight for bosses to have the right to fire ppl for almost any reason. Do you think we should pass laws that regulate why people can be fired? It troubles me that you can now get fired for expressing a view on social media. Not beating someone up. Not sexually harassing a student. Not keying someone's car. Stuff which should cost a person their job. But posting an idea or thought online.
You seemed all for it in a different thread, although I tried to explain to you why extra-judicial punishment dispensed via the court of Twitter was not a good thing. In most states you can be fired for any reason other than discrimination (if you are a protected class.). "In America, White have gotten where they are on the backs of slavery and Jim Crow. Hundreds of years of "natural" empire evolution was skipped via slavery and the subsequent discrimination that categorically privileged a certain group of people."Mentioning a race doesn't make you racist.
In America, White have gotten where they are on the backs of slavery and Jim Crow. Hundreds of years of "natural" empire evolution was skipped via slavery and the subsequent discrimination that categorically privileged a certain group of people. The children of the figures of Antebellum have been taught how to exploit that privilege while at the same time damning the underprivileged. Those people have taught their children, who teach their children the same knee-jerk reactions to mere "suggestions" of racism and discrimination.
White Privilege isn't a racist rant. You have to have at least one eye and one ear to know that it is a matter of fact in America.
The solution is clearly to treat black people in America as equals, and human. Would you apologize for a dog that doesn't bite getting chocked out to death by a cop? Why it is acceptable for a black man to be chocked out by a cop when he is unarmed and restrained? Because it is clear black lives are a prop in America part of the time, and a level later to a demonic entity the rest of the time.
So, while the solution is simple, America will never actually attain it. Americans would rather see the nation burn to the ground than treat a certain group of people as equals and human (not like tragic cases, or lost children). The day America treats blacks as nearly equal is the day America will fall; racism is the glue that keeps America together.
So, you can probably see America is getting closer to its demise - and "we" are begging for it. If it takes 100+ years to realize something that should be obvious, you are already at a spiritual disadvantage.
All for firing ppl for racist public statements or actions, which I consider gross misconduct and therefore meet the tests of just cause. As a union rep, I believe all workers deserve just cause protection. Where did I change my tune here? You seemed all for it in a different thread, although I tried to explain to you why extra-judicial punishment dispensed via the court of Twitter was not a good thing.
Australia has unfair dismissal laws. There are also laws about job discrimination. It's a problem. If an employer is paying someone to do a job, then he/she has the right to decide who is suitable and who is not. I did not enjoy the discrimination I suffered as an older person looking for work. However, I respect the right to hire and fire, so I did not complain. When the state gets overly involved in people's lives, it rarely works out well. Australia never recovered from just a few years of rank socialism. The way things are goi8ng, it never will.In most states you can be fired for any reason other than discrimination (if you are a protected class.). The road to dictatorship, so I believe. What people do outside of their work is their own business. When socialists (and unions are by definition) start to step outside the workplace, it's another attack on individual freedoms. All for firing ppl for racist public statements or actions, which I consider gross misconduct and therefore meet the tests of just cause. Who suggested the comments were directed towards the black community? Are they suggesting only black people do those things? It was suggested the comments were directed towards the black community.
In civilised countries we put people on trial, and if they are found to have broken the law, then they are sentenced according to sentencing guidelines. That's what happens in the UK, and I'd guess it's similar in the USA.All for firing ppl for racist public statements or actions, which I consider gross misconduct and therefore meet the tests of just cause. But it’s unions who protect much of that activity outside of work from being subject to discipline. I’m not sure what you mean about unions stepping outside the workplace? The road to dictatorship, so I believe. What people do outside of their work is their own business. When socialists (and unions are by definition) start to step outside the workplace, it's another attack on individual freedoms.
No.We have enough political correctness coming down from a central government. In most states you can be fired for any reason other than discrimination (if you are a protected class.).
