Agape as used in the NT, is to do what is needed and necessary to the one who is loved. The one who acts out of love sacrifices his own best interests and even the self-interests and yearnings of the one being loved to accomplish what is needed not what is wanted.
Agape in classical Greek has nothing to do with modern day reincarnations, it was a philosophical term.
This is why in scripture Agape is many times coupled with the ultimate sacrifice. For God so loved the World that He sent his only begotten Son... There is no greater gift that this. That a man give up his life for his friends. Men love your wives like Christ loved his Church and gave up his life for her... etc
It is not in anyone's natural inclinations to die but love presupposes an act that overcomes natural willing, self interests, and the resolve do the painful neccesity regardless of either the one who loves to the one being loved. In some ways it can even cease to be a moral quality, opting to remove medical care for someone you love for example. When God destroyed Sodom. It's the agonizing choice to do what is necessary to liberate the one you love.

So should your "love" go all the way, all the way to MURDER of your "loved one," (i.e. active euthanasia)?

Thank you.

Love.. why not just say.. describe Jesus.Ever have moments when you could see? One I didnt.. yet young asking my dad that was ..wow very mean. Beat me.. yet I asked him to forgive me. So many years later dying of bone cancer and out of 8 of his kids none wanted anything t do with him ..he says he felt closest to me. To ask someone to forgive you..when you were the victim. He saw Jesus.. never me.

Then in my 50's..there were other times but this was the ...yeah. I cant explain it. Its just what I saw. we have had really really really bad fights. Then just a few months ago...WHY...yes WHY did it take all these years to see? I dont know. My worst enemy would not talk and treat me like this (always takes TWO to fight). Yet.. as i stood there in the middle of it all.. haha.. sounds strange .. like time stops... this is ..this IS LOVE. I see her in this moment as this is the way it will be forever.. I care NOTHING what so ever about me.. what I want what I feel. I care EVERYTHING about her. This moment..I will joyfully serve... love her just like this. As much the same as if there were no fighting but LOVE between us both.

That moment was and forgive me.. as if I was seeing through His eyes. Lol.. no WAY in the world could I feel think this or want this. To LOVE your enemy. We say the words but to be IN that moment.. I just me.. personally believe no one can do it unless HE alone steps in to give us what is not flesh. To get a glimpse? Of this love He has for us.

See I didnt plane it.. as not doing it (loving).. was not being HOLY....its like a light came on and He says.. I want to see..taste something of Me...that we should be doing always. Never ever is it forced.....strange.. I didnt see her as wrong or evil ...the love you have in that greatest moment with someone? At that moment was there.. its like you step out.. and its all Him..

WOW.. ok sorry getting lost here. no expert.. I sin more then most.. I really really really dont like the road it took to see that...but I want it and will ...let it be written do any and everything to keep it To love the one I hate..to love period.

Can love be viewed as negative? Or perhaps hurtful? Can you call the police on your drug using son because you love him enough to protect him from himself?

Can you love someone enough to show (not tell or berate or judge... but show) them their faults, or the err in their ways?

Love has lots of fluffy and feel good sides to it and I do not discount those at all, they are very much included in the definition. But to love someone is to have a responsibility to them, even if it hurts!

Love can be difficult to walk in.

True love is willing the good for the other. It is an act of the will, not a feeling.
Often an act of the will, that goes against your "own will", moved and decided by, in the "heart"...

It all to often can fly in the face of pure logic and reason as well, your heart overrides your mind, knowing it is not logical or perhaps even reasonable, but you just know, that you know, that you know, it is the "right thing to do"... And maybe what is necessary and needed, though you mind may tell you otherwise...

God Bless!

Lets talk about love. Love is the greatest and it abides forever, it never fails, and it always edifies.
Agape is an act of will that benefits the object at the sole expense of the benefactor.

Heart not being synonymous with emotion. Rather Heart being the core motivator that may act contrary to emotion.

Love. It's sorta' inexplicable.
Love changes hearts from stone to flesh.
It also coaxes wounded souls to come out of their "hiding places".
YES! Like a puppy or a kitten can without even trying !
Or a little child, truthful and innocently, with no guile at all !
