I've not heard of it. I found reference to it at once church which was definitely not confessional (women pastors is a giveaway). In general I think it's more prevalent in ELCA churches but I did find it at one LCMS.

Defined as such:

There are over 1,500 Youth Club ministries, also known as The LOGOS Ministry, across the United States. LOGOS enables a local church to offer its young people the positive aspect of relationship building on a weekly basis. Young people enjoy Christian fellowship through creative recreational activities, participation in worship/choir, group study of contemporary and Biblical values, and through sharing a meal together.

LOGOS meets the needs of youth, and it has proved to be a valuable tool for family involvement and renewal, as parents and other members of the church are drawn into active participation. LOGOS is not a substitute for standard programs of Christian Education, but rather another area of that education and a strong supplement to already existing programs. LOGOS is designed to enhance, extend, and improve the existing programs of Christian Education.

After further research, it's apparently non-denominational (which is probably why it seems much easier to find on ELCA church sites). In general, Lutherans would rather have their own youth group where Lutheran doctrine is taught rather than a lumped non-denominational ministry...who knows what kind of material is handed out. Similarly related - I went to a Christian school when I grew up. From preschool till 8th grade. It was such a mess of theology. I started to question it after reading the left behind books (which I believe was a subject on one chapel) and finding no substantiation in the Bible. I'm never going to stick my kids in a Christian school unless it's a LCMS one.

It sounds more like a mentor program from that site.

Young adults, in my opinion, can handle theology that isn't diluted. Having a non-denom ministry WILL dilute to the point of being too broad so as not to offend or make it seem as though they are more aligned with one denomination than the other. It might be okay for elementary age but not youth.

Okay, thanks for finding all that out. I agree with you 110%.

On the Christian school thing, I homeschool my kids, and find Baptist curriculum, Catholic curriculum, Orthodox curriculum, Pagan curriculum, Reformed curriculum, and non-denom Christian curriculum... and absolutely no Lutheran homeschool curriculum. Wonder why that is.

Anyway, thanks for the info!

I thought Logos was one of the three ways that God communicates with us. The other two being ethos and pathos.

Well, yeah! But I saw this "Logos" a number of times having something to do with Youth in Lutheran churches, so I had to figure there was another kind of Logos floating around...

Plus I think it must be more of an ELCA thing. There are a lot of Lutheran church websites which do not state nor even hint as to which kind of Lutheran church it is. Those must have been the ones I was seeing them at, though I did see Logos at a couple of LCMS websites.
