Does it cover Jesus Christ? Not if you can think of something that does not cover?
That is what you have been taught by others and not by Jesus or the writers of the New Testament and Bible. Paul wrote the Colossian telling them to make sure they don't follow anything other than what Jesus taught. All the Apostles taught this precept whereas only Jesus is God's wisdom for us. If you want to know the truth, Learn from what the writers of the gospels wrote about Jesus' teachings, then finding God's grace. If you don't do this, you are only following liars who distort the Word of God.Actually, it begins with unmerited rebirth by the sovereign decision of the Holy Spirit (Jn 3:7-8), proceeds to the unmerited gift of faith (Php 1:29, Ac 13:48, Ac 18:27, 2 Pe 1:1, Ro 12:3) and unmerited salvation (Eph 2:8-9).
There is no merit-based Christian life.So we prove our worthiness by using someone else's fruits to prove we are allied. That's the same as saying His will, not ours as I have been saying.

God's grace: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
If you follow John Calvin,
Does believing the word of the Scriptures above count?you don't follow Jesus and His disciples (Apostles) but others who are "Blinded by the god of this world." No understanding comes through a person today as if God needs help, but God does lead people to Jesus. If you cannot believe Acts 3:22-24, Acts 10:34-45, Acts 17:24-31, Genesis 3:22 (God's Grace), you will never be able accept the words of Jesus Christ because faith comes through hearing the Word of God spoken through Jesus.
You calling Jesus a liar? There is no merit-based Christian life.
It may sound like merit, but it's all of God, all that man has and all that man does is a gift of GodYou calling Jesus a liar?
Sounds like merit to me, unless a person wont accept the words of Jesus Christ...
Two types of people
Type 1...
24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
Type 2...
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[f] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[g] in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.
Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest
25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
This is the Great grace, the one completely incomprehensible grace; God gave himself to save his creature, human kind.God's grace: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son
What do you say? Do you, or does anyone, merit Jesus Christ?Do we merit Jesus Christ or gifts?
And that answers your question. . .it's all grace (God's unmerited favor). What do you say? Do you, or does anyone, merit Jesus Christ?
This is the Great grace, the one completely incomprehensible grace; God gave himself to save his creature, human kind
16 For from his [Jesus] fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (John 1)This is the Great grace, the one completely incomprehensible grace; God gave himself to save his creature, human kind.

What do you see the greater context to be that you are adding, and how do you see it impacting their own context?Let's look at those verses.
I don't know what translation you use, but I will use the ESV because it is simpler to understand, and I will add verses to the one's you suggested to get a greater context.
You used John 3:7-8 which isn’t the full context, so I added verse 6 (John 3:6-8) because you left out that important aspect of the context. The impact is clarity to the process by Which God, who is the Holy Spirit, works. The gospel of John teaches the process by which both Jew and gentile become children of God.What do you see the greater context to be that you are adding, and how do you see it impacting their own context?
I agree that the gospels have primacy. Many people use the Apostles teachings to define the written testimony and words of Jesus‘s when in actuality the Apostle’s teachings must solely be defined by Jesus’ spoken words and instructions which the 4 gospels have relayed.
Yes, flesh is born of flesh, and the new birth of God's divine eternal life within our immortal spirits (it first being given to Adam) is of God, the Holy Spirit, it being his own divine life. You used John 3:7-8 which isn’t the full context, so I added verse 6 (John 3:6-8) because you left out that important aspect of the context.
