One of the things about what I do, is that you can think you know how your day will go, and it will all be cruising along fine, and then the funeral director rings and you realise that your plans for the next week just went out the window.

And it's really important, and you never want those families to feel like you're frustrated or inconvenienced, but sometimes you do feel those things...

What was your username? My mind is not working now lol
Gosh, I can't remember now; it's changed a couple of times. I think I went by "chaela" when I first joined CF.

Also, is that Dil from The Crying Game? :)
You mean my avatar? No, it's someone else. A beautiful soul who is very special to me personally.

I can only imagine how stressful that would be. I'm the type who likes to know well beforehand of any changes to my routine. To be "on call" like that must be very difficult at times.

I'm that type too. And it can be difficult, partly because it's a personality thing, but partly because you want the family to feel nothing but cared for and given all the space and time they need, and so there's a tension when mentally you're aware of all the other things in the background (if that makes sense?)

I did laugh at "Couldn't they die some other time?" I once had a very beloved priest who died the Thursday before Easter. I may have thought something very similar that week...

Yes, it totally makes sense!

I changed my mind. I'm gonna be a bullfighter, or "matador" as they say. Matador translates as "killer" so even though I'm very pro-English I think I'll go with Matador on my business cards. Sounds a bit more romantic.

In an apparent attempt to preserve the delicacy's popularity among the country's rapidly modernizing and discriminating palates, some schools in the Philippines introduce balut to young students during science classes.

Students use balut to study the anatomy of birds, then eat the compressed bird beak, veins and developing wings within.

"Our teacher made us eat the egg so it wouldn't go to waste," says Manila resident Anna Vecin of her ordeal.

"And if we didn't eat it, we'd get a low score on that day's lesson. Of course, I had no choice but to eat it." - Balut: How to eat the Philippines' fertilized duck egg | CNN Travel

Well my career change is off to a bit of a slow start. Anyone here have any bulls that need to be fought? I'm offering senior citizen discounts and a 2 for 1 special now through Labor Day. I need to get some revenue coming in so I can expand and start fighting cows too.

I'd pay good money to see a human and cow fight. Reminds me of Red Dead Redemption 2. You could actually sock a cow in the face, although I believe they later added un update to the game where you couldn't hit them anymore. Lol.

What's currently on my mind? How much I detest grading schoolwork (I'm a teacher). How utterly uncomfortable and inconvenient it is to have a recently surgically repaired ankle that hurts like heck and is keeping me in the house. Knowing I have to have lesson plans written out for this week and drawing a blank. Hoping I get the stitches out of the incisions and manage to avoid a hard cast when I go to the ortho doc on Tuesday. Wishing I could actually get a good night's sleep instead of waking up numerous times due to pain.

Well, y'all asked...
