Happy I got to talk to my father on the phone. Right now, he has a blood clot. Hopefully the medication works, they aim for him to be released on Friday.

Yeah, he currently has some blood clots. Most worrying one found in one of his lungs. But.. he's not in intensive care or anything.. so it looks like things will be alright this time.

Well now they're worrying about possible lung damage. He's still not in critical care.. but yeah.. this is giving me flashbacks about last time. His health can deteriorate really quickly.

You're doing great being there with him and calling. All these last years and the work you do for him in the present will alieveate you of guilt in the future. You'll know you put in the effort and took care of your father's mind and body the best you could. Consider that when the time comes and its time for him to leave, you'll no longer be able to prove how much you cared and just what he meant to you, so even though it might not be obvious at the moment, now is the time to prove all your love and gratitude, and maybe even ask questions that you won't be able to later (I have so many questions for my mom were she still here). But yeah keep fighting the good fight, God loves YOU. Life is so beautiful.

I make one little YouTube comment 10 years ago, and I still get emails saying someone has replied to it.

Back in the day I used to make comments occasionally, but this one is the only that I ever get notifications about. These days I know better not to make comments, lol.

There's all these laws named after victim's first names, like Kari's Law and Lauren's Law. What if Cole Porter had been abducted and they passed Cole's Law? It would sound like coleslaw. This has been on my mind all day.

My father seems to be alright for the meantime. Out of the hospital but has to use an oxygen tank. He isn't permanently tied to it, but his lungs for the time are weakened.

Well, he doesn't need the oxygen tank anymore.

We do it all online here now (tax, that is). It does seem to come through quicker.

I'm sitting here with a mud mask on my face. Something about self-care...

My backyard was hit by a tornado some years ago. It was really windy, and I was talking on the phone sort of pacing around the house while talking. I passed by the kitchen window and there was the metal shed in the backyard just like it's been for over 37 years. A kind of big one maybe 15 by 15 feet, secured to a foundation. I heard this big sound of rushing wind, and I passed by the window a few seconds later and the entire shed was completely gone. Stuff that was inside the shed was scattered all around. This tornado had lifted up the whole shed in one piece and set it down in my neighbor's yard, all crumpled and mangled. I didn't see it myself but two of my neighbors said it was a well-formed tornado that did it. It's amazing the precision the wind can have. There were two trees whose trunks were just about two inches apart. It completely snapped one trunk in half near the bottom, but left the other tree pretty much unscathed. Tornado victims on the TV always say "it sounded like a train". To me it sounded like a tornado.

Very quickly afterward a guy from The City showed up and told me I'd have to remove the stuff from the neighbor's yard or I'd get fined. The metal screws were all rusted with age so I couldn't disassemble it and had to hire a guy with a saw that cuts metal to remove it. Insurance helped with that, and with repairing a section of broken fence from where the tree fell over it.

That same year a very large tree fell down in my front yard. It fell lying across the street where cars couldn't pass so I called The City. The City sent out a small crew of 87 men to cut the tree up. (85 of them were there to just stand around and watch. "Supervise" I think they call it. You know how The City is.) They had this big crane that easily picks up the tree parts after they cut them, but they would not touch the biggest part, about 10 feet of the bottom of the trunk that was lying not in the street but in my yard. They cut the trunk right where it went into the street and removed only the part in the street. I told them I didn't have a chainsaw, I don't have a pickup truck, I have no way to get rid of this trunk. They said they wouldn't do it because it was on my property. The crane claw was inches away from it, it would have taken all of 10 seconds to help me out but they wouldn't do it. I love The City.
