Mea Kulpa,
That doesn't help. Those are obscure sources. "AKA Catholic.com"?
And that book is apparently the only source for that quote.
I am sorry about the obscurity of the quote but all the sources lead back to what seems to be that one and only source
The quote is a translation from french on page 52 pf the book "pie xii devant i'hostorie" it was published in 1972 by monsegnior Georges Roche and Philippe Saint Germain. The authors claim that these words were a confidence made by the Pope to Enrico Pietro Galeazzi
Galeazzi lived until 1986 he never refuted the claims.
The book recieved a bad review from a later defamed modernist priest a one father Poulat who eventually gave up the priesthood.
A little more on Galeazzi
"His association with Cardinal Pacelli as Secretary of State of the Vatican City later blossomed into great collaboration when Pacelli was elected Pope Pius XII. Even before his election, he had appointed Galeazzi the Special Delegate to the Knights of Columbus (April 3, 1939) and conferred upon him the title of Architect of the Holy Apostolic Palaces and the post of General Manager of the Technical and Economic Services (April 8, 1939)
