I believe that Scripture contains all things necessary to salvation; I don't hold to it being inerrant in every matter (it is not a science or history textbook)......Oh my !!!! You had better embrace and believe every word that is written in it. The Bible is much more that for salvation, what about how to live the way that pleases Him ? What about finances? Marriage? Family? It most certainly can be trusted for a history test- do you not believe in all the events of the Bible? (the flood....parting of the Red Sea....creation?) Are you some kind of religion-made woman preacher?I believe that Scripture contains all things necessary to salvation; I don't hold to it being inerrant in every matter (it is not a science or history textbook).
That said, I have been involved in my denomination for somewhat more than twenty years now; my view of it is formed by Scripture, by my training in theology, and by my own personal experience.
Which has nothing to do with being willing to help the PP find a church which is appropriate for him.

That is a pipe dream isn't it? No one who is religious came to religion without some source (book, bible, preacher, friend) telling them a story with emphasis on some doctrine or other.without them holding on to any denominational baggage

Some (many) of the Bereans became Christians the rest remained Jews.like a good Berean
1. The Sabbath is not Sunday.
2. Yoked does not mean married.
I agree with #1
- Sunday is the Lord's day.
- Yoked together means joined together in some solemn and meaningful way.
The correlation between the religious of today and the religious of Jesus' day. What important doctrine or truth is not being taught in the churches today?
The correlation between the religious of today and the religious of Jesus' day.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
I was an atheist raised atheist. I questioned the Basic Premise of Christianity. The Basic Premise of Christianity is God. I asked God if He exists. He does. That is a pipe dream isn't it? No one who is religious came to religion without some source (book, bible, preacher, friend) telling them a story with emphasis on some doctrine or other.
That bat example is a bit unfair as animal classification is arbitrary. It's like saying the Jewish lunar calendar is wrong because our calendar is solar.I am an orthodox Anglican. Anglicans have never held to the inerrancy of the Scriptures in every matter.
Sure, the Bible has lots to say about how to live righteously and wisely. But when I say it's not a science textbook, here's just one simple example; Leviticus 11:19 lists bats among unclean birds. But bats are not birds, they are mammals. It would be a mistake to read that verse and therefore insist that bats are birds.
