Move.
Or, open.

Unfortunately Baha'is often don't have that option. Usually their businesses get expropriated by the government. And they may not have the wherewithal to leave the country. Furthermore, Baha'is are not allowed to work government jobs and are even precluded from attending universities in Iran. The same is not true for Christians, Jews or Zoroastrians there. When Baha'is tried to set up their own online university, the government shut it down and arrested those involved in it:

They closed down your business because it wasn't open for Christmas:

I don't know what I would do, but I sympathize with the people in that position. I know that I think it's wrong to close down anyone's business simply because they don't adhere to the same belief system. Unfortunately, this sort of discrimination happens all over the world and probably always will.

Sorry to hear that.
If so, where or what is the hope?

I'm hoping that with the restoration of relations with Iran there will be more room to address human rights issues such as this. But I also think that the individuals who are behind these persecutions should be brought up to the Haque for crimes against humanity.

For people who suffered, this is not a very realistic hope. Is it?
It is not a hope. It is a dream. It is not likely to happen, at least not in their life time.
If so, is there any other hope to hang on?

A lot of retail business get a boost around Christmas time... of course we had a Toy and Book Store but we were able to get time off for Baha'i Holy Days. Had we been located in Iran well you know what would happen to us.

I work in retail. I hate everything about Christmas and how it's celebrated in the new consumer-culture religious cathedrals: malls.

I admit that the commercial exploitation of Christmas has made it a holiday that I now dread rather than enjoy. Too much Santa and stress over giving gifts and not enough focus on what it really represents.

Our family is celebrating Christmas at Thanksgiving. How cool is that!
