Who needs hate blogs when we have hadith and well-accepted Islamic commentary?

Unless you deliberately distorted that verse by leaving out the part about the angels being addressed, apparently you do.

If we go with your translation, and according to you, why is Allah reminding men of what he said to the angels?

It was right after the Battle of Badr. God was essentially saying "I won that battle, you didn't."

So did angels fight the Battle of Badr?

That's what the Qur'an indicates. Muslims were hopelessly out numbered.

Before you accuse me of not reading you need to re-read at least 8:9 through 8:19.

It says Muslims shouldn't turn tail in battle. So what of it?

Well you're right. It's not me or the Martian you need to convince that Islam is a religion of peace. It's all these Muslims with a Koran in one hand and a Kalishnikov in the other.

If the NT doesn't stop Christians from taking up arms how would I be able to convince some Muslims fanatics?

1. Have evidence that he took that parable as an instruction?

There is a verse from another parable that was used even more frequently to justify forcible conversion:

23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. (Luke 14)

In his communications with the Emperor Theodosius, St. Augustine used this verse to justify the persecution of the Donatists. Charlemange was illiterate but he had St. Augustine's writings read to him every night.

2. They were executed for committing treason against the king, not for being kuffar, and Saxons had the same punishment for treason amongst themselves.

Treason? Excuse me but Charlemagne invaded their country! That's like accusing the French Resistance of committing treason because they opposed the Nazis!

3. It's 2015. A lot of things about war and criminal justice have changed within Christendom. Within Islam, not nearly as much as we'd like.

That's true. The Wars of Religion in Europe were so bloody that by the middle of the seventeenth century no one wanted to fight over religion anymore. This gave birth to the Enlightenment which in turn gave birth to secularism. But it was an explicitly anti-Christian movement which led to the tolerance we now enjoy. There are those who say Islam needs a Reformation. Nonsense, they are having a Reformation and it is just as bloody as the one the Christians had. What the Islamic World needs right now is an Enlightenment.
