• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What would you do if you were visited by an angel who said that you had been chosen to go back.

Go back where you ask? Into the womb. And then, what if, once inside your mother's womb, you were told that your mother did not want you. That she would visit an abortion clinic tomorrow and you would be killed.

Would you go back into the womb and still cling to your belief that abortion is permissible or acceptable? That you would not be allowed to live the life you've lived, loved the people you've loved and been loved by?

What if?

**This question is obviously directed to those who are pro-choice.

And it's not meant to lead into a debate, we already have plenty of those threads. Just answer the question. Yes or no.

"You slaughtered my children and offered them up to idols by causing them to pass through the fire. And besides all all your abominations and harlotries, you did not remember the days of your youth when you were naked and bare and squirming in your blood" (Ezekiel 16:21,22).

As an Adult, of course I would not choose to go back and be aborted. However, I would be making that decision, having experienced life. The fetus is indifferent, and the mother is not. The fetus doesn't become more human just because one day it may live a human life.

Actually, this is the Discussion AND Debate forum, so if member wish to debate the OP, they are within that right.

But to the question, it reminded me of Kathy Troccoli's "A Baby's Prayer".

A fetus is human from conception. Perhaps you meant "morally viable" or some such?

No, I would not choose to go back.

Oh boy, here I go again.

Every time I do not rape a woman, I am condemning an innocent child to nonexistence. Is this wrong?

you're only going to get the question mocked or dodged. Good luck though.

<looks around>

Hmm..it appears some of us neither mocked nor dodged the question but rather answered it directly.

I think it's a perfectly fair question.

What the author deduces from the given responses would be of interest to me, and might make for a good discussion.

Now that is flagrant fallacy in the most fatuous form.

I'm getting a bit comfy in my skin now, except for the bum right foot I've got for a little bit, so I would not choose to go back.

However this being the DISCUSSION AND DEBATE forum, you're gonna get a discussion. I do not believe in going back to the womb and being aborted, but I also don't believe in going back in time and undoing the mistakes I made in my youth. All these experiences are done and should not be undone.

Have you stopped beating your wife?

It's a yes or no question, please don't mock or dodge it.
oh... I was wondering when I'd see that old chestnut again.

Firstly, it isn't a question of the same vein as a what if question. It's a logical falicy, assumptive questioning. A what if assumes parameters, but not outcome. What if's have led to some of the more interesting discussions, and discoveries.

And besides, it's Moot. I'm not married. :p
