  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What if you believe but don't repent of your sins?

It means to place complete trust in Him as one's Lord and Personal Savior. If you do that, it follows that you will try to do what he said was right to do. But that doesn't mean that this what will save you. It's still the Faith that saves.

So does that mean that if those works won't follow, you will lose all of your faith that you had? Why would that happen if your faith was not on your works?

It means that you didn't have the Faith. You might claim it; and you might think that believing Jesus to be a noble teacher or something like that is what Faith is all about, but that's not a real Faith. This is what the message of the epistle of James is telling us. A true follower will naturally do what his mentor and hero says to do.

It means that you didn't have the Faith.

Other religions have faith too. Muslims have faith in Islam, Mormons have faith in Mormonism, Hindus have faith in Hinduism, etc. Even atheists have faith in the supposed non-existence of God. If you have faith, you know it. You don't have to wonder if you are a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Christian or an atheist. Everyone knows what they have faith in. You don't need any works to prove it.

You might claim it; and you might think that believing Jesus to be a noble teacher or something like that is what Faith is all about, but that's not a real Faith.

I'm not claiming that at all. I'm claiming that faith means to believe in Jesus or to trust him.

We are talking about Christ as Lord and Savior on this thread, and Faith in him as such, are we not?

I'm not claiming that at all. I'm claiming that faith means to believe in Jesus or to trust him.
The what's the point in talking about Islam and other religions?

And here it comes, the same small minded view that allows some to think it's faith only and that they can take the easy way out.

First, then you are effectively saying Luke 3:13 is bogus.

Secondly, do you not know obeying Christ is part of having faith in him? Do you really believe that because you "say" you have faith, that you do not have to do as Jesus says? Please answer those questions.

So, again, here is what Christ said:
You my friend will find out the hard way on judgement day. You refuse to take the easy way out. You still trust in your works and God will show you the ugliness of your pride and sins on judgement day.

Matthew 11:30 - For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

You still trust in your works, your repentance of sins, rather than Jesus alone. Therefore you trample over the cross. You are not saved, and need to repent (change your mind) and believe the gospel.

Satan has definitely cursed the word repent. It clearly gets religious people off because they can do something to earn their way to heaven! That's all the carnal man wants to hear. That is truly what tickles ears.

I am thankful to the Lord for giving me an understanding of what the word means, metanoia in Greek for mind change, and also for showing me that the phrase "repent of your sins" is not found once in the KJV bible. And yet heretics preach it all the time.

That is called rebellion.

Are you rebelling against to will of the Father if you don't repent of your sins, but you believe on Jesus? Let's find out...

John 6:40: "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."

What if someone doesn't repent of their sins but they still believe in Jesus? Do you think people like that going to hell?

To believe in Jesus is to believe in who He is and what he came to accomplish. The Bible often uses the same terms to describe the nature of God as it does to describe the nature of God's law, which is because it is God's instructions for what it looks like to express His nature, such as with it being holy, righteous, and good (Romans 7:12), or with justice, mercy, and faithfulness being weightier matters of the law (Matthew 23:23). Jesus is the exact expression of God's nature (Hebrews 1:3), so he expressed God's nature through his actions and what that looked like was sinless obedience to the Mosaic Law, so expressing Christ's nature through our actions in obedience to the Mosaic Law is what it looks like to believe in who he is.

Jesus began his ministry with the Gospel message to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand (Matthew 4:17-23) and the Mosaic Law was how his audience knew what sin is, so repenting from our disobedience to it is an integral part of the Gospel message, which he prophesied would be proclaimed to all nations (Matthew 24:12-14). Furthermore, Jesus set a sinless example of how walk in obedience to the Mosaic Law, so he spent his ministry teaching how to obey it by word and by example. In addition, in Titus 2:14, Jesus gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so becoming zealous for doing good works in obedience to the Mosaic Law is what it looks like to believe in the sum of everything that Jesus accomplished through his ministry and through the cross (Acts 21:20).

So it is contradictory for someone to believe in Jesus while refusing to repent from their sins.

That is called rebellion.
A saved person should repent of their sins to be in fellowship with God. It's a respect thing and it is part of being in a relationship with him. Just like you know your dad would not stop being your dad if you disobeyed him, but out of respect to him you apologize for doing something wrong and try not to do it. Having said that saved believers can still sin, they will be chastened for it.

The point is that you don't repent of your sins to be saved. If you add it to salvation it becomes an accursed gospel. Salvation belongs to the Lord. All glory to Christ not man. It is by his finished work on the cross alone. Sanctification is a different story. You can be carnal Christian but you're not sanctified if you are, you are still saved though.

You are correct that is rebellion. But not taking God at his word and believing the gospel of the blood of Jesus ALONE for remission of sins is the only form of rebellion that will send you to hell.

Jesus is saying it... And you are on your way to hell for not believing it.

Romans 4:5
"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

Romans 11:6
"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."

1 Corinthians 1:18-31
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

You will hear "I never knew you" on judgement day as you still trust in your works. You have a FALSE GOSPEL.

You can't do good things by the way, the flesh profits nothing. Only the spirit can do things which are profitable. And because you are not born again because you reject the gospel of Christ's finished work on the cross alone, all of your works will burn up and they are like filthy rags. You will find out the hard way on judgement day, but don't say we didn't try to warn you.

The gospel is foolishness to those who perish, so you will probably brush this off and continue to harden your heart. You have not repented to salvation. You have been deceived by satan and became religious, not born again.

If you don't trust on Christ alone and still trust in your "repentance" you are an unsaved false convert who tramples on the blood of Jesus and deems what Jesus did for you as insufficient. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. The gospel is foolishness to those who perish

You have not repented unto salvation. Repentance means changing your mind from trusting in your dead works of the law (repenting of sin) to trusting in him alone. You need to get saved.

Read my words carefully and clearly, I will bold them for you:

You are going to hell for not depending on Christ alone for salvation

Seems you are unable to answer either of my questions, and calling them stupid is not an excuse.

Is that clear enough for you? Stop asking stupid questions. Get a life, more importantly get eternal life and get saved by believing the real gospel before it's too late.

It seems you cannot answer either of my questions directly, and calling them stupid is not an excuse.

Must we be good in oppp
Yes. And I will stop arguing with hell-bound devils. I rebuke you satan in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

No argument at all, and thank you for anwering the following question:

Then you are saying we can make it to heaven on faith alone and dont have to do good things?

You answered yes to that, in that we don't have to do good to get to heaven. Now please read the following and answer once more. Does Jesus say there we do or do not have to do good in order to get to heaven...also a simple question.

John 5:28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned."

Notice how Jesus disagrees with you 100%?
