• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was thinking about this, And be honest, We all experiance doubts and fear if we blasphemed God and such now..salvation ect ect.

What If God Himself or one of His angels came down to you and spoke to you and said something along the lines of " I know youre heart you can never blaspheme me" or "Dont listen to anything including the doubts in youre head, fear not."

Would that be assurance enough to completly ignore everything in our heads and find peace? Or do you think we will struggle?

Imo i get so irrational i think id still be the same:( or..should i say a bit better but at times..i donno.

Just a thought  Im just interested do we really need that kind of assuranse, due to us being so irrational at times??

Intriguing question, Jay.

Biblically speaking, Abram and Zechariah heard from God and His Angels and doubted. The disciples physically walked with Christ and still had doubts. I am certainly no better than these. In fact, I have how many copies of the Bible, with far more promises and evidence of how the story all ends, and still stumble.

God promises never to leave or forsake us. I can say this boldly for you and struggle to apply it to me (except right now I'm pretty stoked). I think we doubt ourselves more than God's promises, but that's what I think God is up to in our lives, teaching us to take Him at His Word when everything inside points to our demise.

I would dare to say that He is calling us to a trust that denies our very feelings and thoughts and depends entirely on him. Our salvation is in The Lord's hands and He is so much better than we can imagine.

Look where our control freak nature lands us when we make our best attempts to take it upon ourselves to do anything but receive and respond to the fact that Christ has saved us?

Good to hear from you Marcb, and youre right, i think its in our nature, I actualy obsess over doubting, wondering if the doubts are really from me or just the OCD.

Ive had God in many unexplainable ways tell me im safe through Him, I have this one dream where He was talking through me was scary..But very comforting thing...Yet ..OCD makes me still get irrational. I guess the best thing we can do in the end is just rebuke the doubts and try not to dwell on it.

I mentioned something like this in one of my threads about a month ago.

I am ashamed to this, but yes.I do believe that I would still struggle with feeling condemned or lost even if God came to me and told me otherwise(which in a sense He actually has).

Everytime i get a sign, blessing or something from God i will be assured for some time and then get more OCD thoughts and be like "So all that time i hadnt committed blasphemy but this time now I have"

My OCD struggles are like a soap opera, they never stop.I am very thankful that God has blessed me so much recently, but sadly i still have these doubts and obsessions.Dont get me wrong, I have been getting a lot better of late, so hopefully very soon these obsessions will not bother me so much.

I remember going through this doubtful episode and I prayed "God please show me I belong to You" and He did through an e-mail from a friend" I then continued to pray "Oh Lord if I really belong to You show me"...I'm not sure if He showed me again, but I still prayed and I had one of those times when He spoke to me in my heart, it was not audible, He told me "why, you won't believe Me".

Very sobering!! I try to remember that chatisement!
It is kind of like Bunyans moment he talked about in his book, Grace abounding!

God bless,
