Thank you for taking the time for such a great reply. I read it once, but need to go back and really go thru it.

I am less than excited about modern American approach to knowing Jesus. Me and my Bible, Faith without works, OSAS - is not attractive to me. I'll work on this some more - thank you and God Bless!

:) The last 20+ years I was in the Reformed (Baptist) camp which is well known for its scholarly rigour and cold logic. Long responses are something I'm use to offering.
Makes sense. I have been to both Baptist churches in town. Nice people. Long sermons mandatory. After hanging around there it feels like there is a huge focus on gaining all the right knowledge, and knowing all the right Bible verses to apply to each question. And you are always studying, studying, studying.

But I know a few humble, quiet people from the Catholic Church, that don't know their Bible very well. But they are super kind, and always looking to help others. I like hanging out with them much more - it feels like they know Jesus. The Baptists feel like information overload, and it's more about how much you know "about" Jesus, more than walking with him. They are hyper sensitive to anything that might look like "works".

So much so that I had a conversation with a Baptist pastor, and he said someone could be converted, and saved, and yet never show any signs of good works his whole life. I like the phrase I heard on Extra Nos Academy - God many not need your good works, but your neighbor does :).

So here is a question. From a Lutheran perspective - is Jesus present in the Catholic Eucharist?
I'm going to side step that question because I am not learned enough in the Book of Concord, Lutheran theology, etc to say.

Today I attended the Tenebrae Service and Holy Communion. It was beautiful, moving...I teared up. I haven't done that in years.
