this is meant to be a silly thread, highlighting some of the most ridiculous things we've learned from anime. so, I'll start:

I've learned from anime that it's ok to be a guy that looks like a girl as long as you are a tough boy.

- That sickness only lasts for a day
- hardwork/determination can overcome anything
- Also pretty much everything is magical or something like that. ^_^

Good things I learned from anime:

-How to draw anime-style
-How to write anime stories

Silly things I learned from anime (that I thankfully no longer do :p)

--How to put shading in random spots instead of where it should go
-How to write a series where the episodes are mostly random and have absolutely nothing to do with each other

My daughter learned to sew, got interested in speaking Japanese and the culture, and learned to manager her finances to be able to build multiple cosplays, buy what she wants, pay for the conventions, and occasionally manage hotel stays.

. It's normal for a woman's eyes to take up two third's of her face.
. When you're embarrassed, a giant tear drop will appear next to your head.
. Everyone apparently wears hair gel, which makes their hair all spikey.
. Hair dye is very popular.

It's awfully fun to watch your teen daughter go "nuclear" when you look through her comics and refer to it as anime or when we watch a movie together and I call it manga.

When you're embarrassed, a giant tear drop will appear next to your head.

I actually kind of wish that could happen in real life, though. ^_^

But as to the trope that you can be an introverted nerd with no romantic experience whatsoever and yet easily have eight to twelve beautiful girls throwing themselves at you at once, I just want to make it known that i do not wish that ever becomes reality. Just ... one of things that I imagine would not be near as glamorous in reality for guys as it might sound. .... Especially if you're the guy from Tenchi Muyo. *retches and runs to the bathroom to throw up at the thought of Ryoko, Ayeka, or Washu*

I kinda want to watch some anime now...^_^

I suggest Emily of New Moon if you are looking for something mellow with likable characters and nothing crazy or distasteful going on. ^-^
