Multiple socks?
Reading this thread the other day when I couldn't log in I noted that some people admitted to having a number of accounts.
What's that about?

I cannot speak for everyone, but in my case each of my sock accounts had an original purpose when they were started...

For example this account was set up to run the Showers of Blessings Drawing so I could keep the blessings seperate...

I have an account that I set up for my brother to use who only visited for a few months then I used the account when I was breeding pets here...

I have an account for my son who still occasionally visits here...

I have an account set up for my lovely bride if she ever chooses to visit here etc...

I for one don't pretend to be mutiple people here, while I think/believe others do... I cheerfully and openly share who I am when I post with other accounts...

PS I believe Mods here are actually encouraged to have a non-mod account... I know pet workers are given an account to use as pet workers (that was my first additional account here)... having multiple accounts is allowed on this forum... I have participated on other forums where it was against forum rules...

First, I'd like to say thank you to Pauler and those working hard to get this site back on track ... this is a really huge site ... I can't imagine! few might agree with me ... but I enjoyed the down time ... if the site is up I'm here anyway ... thank you

I actually decided to post because of the sock discussion ... I, too, have multiple accounts ... and each and every one of them serves a purpose. This site has in the past, and I assume still, encouraged socks ... who knows why ... not my business ... one sock I have was actually someone else's acct that came during a time when this site was teeming with things they wanted no part of so I was asked if I wanted the account ... another sock is to be able to blog without judgement because of the immense dislike for me by some ... another is because my main purpose in coming to cf is to work for the Lord ... makes it tough to just go play games and have fun ... I see no reason why anyone should care unless someone is using them to hurt people ... I site support my socks when I can and use them to serve the Lord ...

and then there are two other people in this house who have accounts ... some might think they're socks ...

I have no interest in debate ... just posting this to help understandings ... jmo God bless

because since that 'joining'
the SITE RULES, 'changed' [?] to permit and welcome non-christians
and also to set guidelines for this

the ip issue being talked about was a server-side error. somehow when a user came to the site the load balancer was registering everyone's ip as 67.220.204.164...so when someone would put in their information, vbulletin would read it as only one person trying to access the site using multiple passwords...

i think all of this is figured out now, and there shouldnt be anymore login issues.

There's still some glitches but it's acting a lot more normal.

I still can't sign in normally - have to sign in, get turned down, then hit register and it tells me I'm signed in and don't need to register.

Search isn't working as well as it used to.

Sometimes I'll hit the new posts button on the main page and get shot off the site.

Member Find seems to be acting up and not finding members that I look for.

Earlier I hit the new posts button and it said I had to wait 10 seconds between searches but I hadn't searched for anything.

I've got multiple accounts - two, actually, this one and another. Yes, i have them, and they both operate at once, and no one knows the identity of the other one, but if im asked for a valid reason, then yes, i will say that it is me.

My point being, socks are fine, as long as you are not using them to bypass forum specific entry. Thats not cool.

So there is nothing wrong with socks. They be cool.

1) Rather than login on the first page, go to a thread and "post reply," then login on the big box that shows up; this worked fine for me.

2) On the first page in the little login box, try unchecking "remember me." I haven't tried this yet.
