To be quite honest there is only two I can think of video games that I feel are bad enough they should actualy be banned from sale and those are the Neo-Nazi game Ethnic Cleansing and JFK shooter game produced by that one small European game developer.

But the Columbine Shooting RPG gets an A-OK in your book? ;)

To be fair, playing the JFK shooter simulation with the Benny Hill theme in the background and extreme physics turned on can actually be pretty hilarious.

Eh, not particularly. The IDEAS behind the gameplay are good (open-endedness, etc.), but I've always felt that the controls were a bit unpolished. I usually just end up getting frustrated whenever I play GTA3 or Vice City. I haven't played San Andreas yet, though, and I hear it's much better, but it's still not really my cup of tea.

Resident Evil 4, however, DID have fantastic gameplay (and the other games, too, although not as much).

Personally, I can't stand the "Resident Evil" series or the "Grand Theft Auto" series...why is all of this violence and gore and crime considered good gameplay? Give me Zelda or Final Fantasy any day!
Resident Evil and GTA do have good gameplay (something you would have noticed if you'd given either series a chance). In fact, both series have some of the best games ever created under their belt (the GTA series consistently scores over 90% from aggregate reviews and Resident Evil 4 was the best-reviewed game for the GameCube ever). Perhaps the violent nature of the games doesn't appeal to you. That's fine. Most gamers have no problem with it and enjoy the level of excitement it brings. On the other hand, many could criticize your choice of games for being wishy-washy.

They do take some getting used to. I feel the Playstation controller in general is not very good for action games.

San Andreas is fantastic.

Lord of the Rings was written by a Christian and has many Christian overtones...

As for games you should be wary of, I'd say Xenogears (maybe xenosaga, never played it). Considering that they're basically out to kill "God" and the heavy handed symbolism ("boo Christianity!" e_e) would lean towards the "not really a good idea" category.

Xenosage = Xenogears??????????????????

I'm sure they are two different games. I got one (now I have forgotten which) played eight hours on it first day (Christmas), and then it just stopped working. Got my money back, but I am still looking for a new copy. As far as I played, there was no anti-Christianity in it at all.

Xenosaga is the sequel-prequel series to Xenogears (it was produced after Xenogears was, but the story takes place before the story of Xenogears).

You probably have one of the episodes of Xenosaga.

Hello CF Gamers!

We have had a few reports about this thread being off-topic to its original post. This is a fairly common evolution of a thread, but in this case it is causing some frustrations.

Therefore, we have decided to close the thread and invite you to start a brand new one. This will save newer people from trawling through a long thread before they make their contribution.

We hope that no one is inconvenienced by this, but please do PM us with any comments you might have. We are always open to suggestions about how to make the forums run better.

God bless,
Naomi
