  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Satan is the sharpest critic that the world has ever known, and he works to hinder and pervert truth. He has induced men to strive to change the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. Under his dictation the first day of the week has been adopted by the Christian world as the Sabbath. He has used his masterly mind to influence other men to adopt the same views that he himself entertains. But if we turn aside from the fourth commandment, so positively given by God, to adopt the inventions of Satan, voiced and acted by men under his control, we cannot be saved. We cannot with safety receive his traditions and subtleties as truth." - Ellen G. White {RH, July 6, 1897 par. 4}

So, what is your opinion about that?

So, what is your opinion about that?
Sounds not much different than requiring people to be circumcised for salvation.

That's what she is saying. Do you agree with it?
Would you believe someone who had suffered a terrible head wound and spent the rest of her life thinking she was a prophet chosen by God to make revisions to the Christian religion?

My opinion?

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Acts 16:31
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 10:9-10
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

It looks like she’s saying that unless you observe a Saturday sabbath, you aren’t saved.
That's exactly what she is saying.

Crystal clear.

No and I wouldn't join the church she started either.

Maybe you can provide scripture showing where un-repented sinners are saved?

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

There is no commandment from God for Sunday keeping , but there there is for Sabbath keeping, written by our Creators own finger and kept inside the ark of the Covenant in God’s Most Holy of His Temple. Exodus 20:8-11

The quote from Ellen is taken out of context:

No one has yet received the mark of the beast. The testing time has not yet come. There are true Christians in every church, not excepting the Roman Catholic communion." . {Ev 234.2}

GC 382-383
"And in what religious bodies are the GREATER part of the followers of Christ now to be found? Without doubt, in the various churches professing the Protestant faith. "

"Imagine how instructive" those quotes would have been in the OP on this thread.

Sundaykeeping is not yet the mark of the beast, and will not be until the decree goes forth causing men to worship this (substitute) sabbath. The time will come when this day will be the test, but that time has not come yet. The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:977 (1899). {LDE 224.6}

That's what she is flat out saying, it's not just similar, it's the same thing using more words.

It applies to all of the commandments not just the 4th. Matthew 5:19

The 4th is the one that everyone tells us to forget when God told us to Remember.

Ellen did not write the 4th commandment. God personally wrote it with His own Finger and placed in the Most holy of His Temple. This sounds very holy and sacred to me and when God added the word “REMEMBER” I think we need to obey God here

Once again, do you agree with Ellen White’s quote from the OP? It’s really a simple question.

Many believe in the 7th day Sabbath but attend church on Sunday.

I observe the 7th day sabbath by refraining from work. But I don't see anywhere where I as a gentile Christian am commanded to do so. Quite the opposite in fact. And I certainly don't see EGW's statement backed up by scripture.
