I've certainly known Christian fundamentalists who interpret scripture as to say that things such as long hair on a man and anything other than dresses on a woman are an abomination to God.

That site's always good for a laugh. It surprises me they haven't all converted to Mormonism...I mean, for someone who's never visited North America, their version of Jesus certainly acts a lot like white middle class Americans.

teens4christ is a hoot! I personally believe it's a spoof but what do I know? I particularly like how culottes are somehow different from pants. Last I checked they had two leg holes but were just a bit shorter. So if u just extended the length a bit you would just have pants anyway. I guess it's a sin to cover your calves? hahahaha

For example, if they were Reconstructionist Christians, whose women follow their own style of prairie-dress modesty, including some sects who indeed believe in head coverings:

If wearing a skirt or dress and avoiding adornment makes one feel closer to God then go for it. No it is not a joke. They take this very seriously. I went to a church briefly(one sunday morning). I wore an ankle length sun dress, which my mother asked me to put a sweater over. I agreed out of respect for her. While at church, I saw a young woman with a pants suit offered a dress by the pastor's wife. It made me uncomfortable, but from talking to many including my cousins who are a different denomination who feels that dressing this way reminds her that she is a woman and makes her feel closer to God. I respect these women, and while I do not agree I don't think they are crazy and I have no desire to change their mind as long as they don't take over the constitution or something.
