As you grow and mature in the Lord Matt 10:39 will become clearer to you. When we take Jesus as Lord our life changes, we pray to die daily to our fleshly self and take up our cross (sacrifice) to follow him. We do this by having a close relationship with him and unless we pray, study his Word, give up things that we shouldn't be doing we are not worthy of him.

Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
-Matthew 10:39
I think it ties in with this scripture:

Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it"

The merchant sold all that he had to gain the pearl. With the Kingdom of God you are either all in or all out.

You mentioned having fun, IMHO in a day and age when churches are begging for members to serve in ministries to help the needy, when elderly and disabled Christians are saying how lonely they feel 24/7 and when billions of people are on the path to hell, the born again believer is in a state of Godly ANGUISH not a state of fun seeking. The priority is the Kingdom. That is where true joy is to be found.

God Bless You :)
