I've never quite understood why billions of people believing in gods without ever having read about the Jewish god is such a shining commendation for christianity. How does (for example) Aphrodite relate to Yahweh? Yes, I know Solomon wrote about some heavy petting, but 2 out of 10 of your commandments (the most popular 10, anyways) have to do with restricting sex and sexual fantasies. What about gods that told people to eat other people? that demand human sacrifices? How are these indications of the significance of your own personal favorite? If anything the extreme variety of gods, not to mention the even more distinctly pronounced pantheon of Jewish, Christian and Islamic sects, indicate a wild, flailing, misguided search for the answers to the questions that researchers using scientific methods are finally answering.

I hate to sound belligerent, but are these the only answers I can expect? I am asking these questions without guile, in hopes of getting real answers. I don't want to sound confrontational, but is this the best you can do? This forum boasts 217,542 members, surely someone can do somewhat better?

What has this got to do with the discussion? Other than you revealing your disagreement with God and the desire to have all sexual restrictions removed. What you are revealing here is your deep disagreement and rebelliousness against the will of God and you are revealing it in a very disrespectfull and mocking manner. Like most athiests your disbelief really is a case if disagreement manifesting it'self in rebellion and then disbelief. Face the facts your disbelief in God is really based on your disagreement with His will.So of cource your confruntational you come in here under the guise of being a seeker asking a genuine question then when the answer is given you seek to provoke contention by hurling thinly vailed insults against God.You have revealed yourself so clearly. there is no need to engage in communication with you any more.

What I was doing was pointing out the disparities between deities in a manner that was neither disrespectful nor rebellious. You, you, brought up belief in other gods as if it helped your point, but suddenly you have issues when I ask questions about that point? Similarly, I would thank you to leave out the red herring of "You just don't want to obey god's laws!". I am, and always will be, faithful to my wife. I don't need to be scared that I'll go to hell (unless I say I'm sorry to god) to do the right thing.

I am quite frankly astonished that you would try to duck out of answering my questions by pretending to be shocked and horrified by any reference to human sexuality. The Song of Solomon is used by many as an example that sex is good! Am I to take it on your authority that sex is bad, dirty, naughty, and shouldn't be mentioned?

In the end, I suppose it is best that you, Mr. Adstar, run away now. I am still looking for honest, intelligent conversation, and am unlikely to find it in company that uses such cop-outs. I only hope that there is someone with whom I can discuss here.
