If God specified exactly what the terms are for appropriate death, then we would rest on the rules instead of His real terms of salvation-- grace, faith, love, accepting redemption.

How about -

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
<-----> 2nd Timothy 4:6-8

Resting on His Word - is resting on Him, for He Is The Word made flesh ! (See John Chapter 1)

Can any of you answer this:
Why does God allow so much pain? Will Heaven be worth it in the end?

Yes I can answer that question. The Bible teaches us why.

It all started in heaven when "Morning Star", who later became known as Satan, began to question Gods government and claimed it was no good etc. And he wanted to be like the most High God.

Satan's arguments convinced many angels, and one-third joined him and God is allowing Satan's government to be played out so everyone can see what free will can achieve and the consequences of some choices we can make.

Satan claimed he had a better plan for the government of the universe. God is giving him time to demonstrate his principles and his government. The Lord will abolish sin only after every person in the universe is convinced that Satan's government is unfair, hateful, ruthless, lying and destructive.

The Bible says. "We are made a spectacle [margin says "theater"] unto the world, and to angels, and to men." 1 Corinthians 4:9. The entire universe is watching as we each play a part in the controversy between Christ and Satan.

As the controversy ends, every person will fully understand the principles of both kingdoms and will have chosen to follow either Christ or Satan.

God had to allow this to happen, and the result of Satan's government is death and pain and everyone at Judgement day will fully understand why God and His government was best.

And will heaven be worth it in the end? Well that depends whom you ask. For me, YES, no more pain, no more death and ability to be with God for all eternity. Can't wait :) Rev 21:4

God bless.

...But if the deceiver can persuade us that we can be "born of God", without being effectually transformed, then we can "feel", like we're safe and sound in Christ..

You can tippy toe around this all day long, but the truth is the truth...hours before Judas walked out of the room, Jesus had promised them ALL that they will dine with Jesus in heaven. Jesus cannot lie, so that means Judas will be in heaven.

God bless.

When Jesus said, all of you, it meant all of you, "whom He had chosen".

I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me. <-----> John 13:18

The Son of man indeed goes, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born. <-----> Mark 14:21

You sound like a good friend to have :) I hope you will continue to be faithful, repeating the same verses to her (I like 1 Corinthians 10:13)...and suicide is not the way "out"...

If she becomes despondent again in this way, keep telling her "not now". If she must, she will keep the option of suicide--perhaps as a shield against having to face what she believes is a horrible future--but she must cling to the fact that things change. She will not always feel so depressed and hopeless...so while she can think it and hear it, "not now."

You are correct in saying that she doesn't want to live this way. Most people who consider suicide don't really want to die, they don't really want to end their lives, they want their lives as they are now to end...a change for better, an ending to the sadness, confusion, frustration, etc that is now in their lives. Making those changes is a choice, just as bailing out through suicide is a choice. A person may suicide when they feel they are totally alone and no one truly understands how desperately sad they are feeling. They choose to stop trying, indeed they may feel they can do nothing else.

It's good that she has a therapist now. Urge her to make a non-suicide pact with the T (therapist) and remind her of it if her thoughts become as dark again (and have her call the T!)

Take care of yourself as well. Ministering to the mentally unwell is very stressful.

You have grossly taken the verses out of context! You conveniently neglected to post the entire chapters, surprise surprise.

Now look at John 13:10 and verse 11, it says about the betrayal and why one was not clean. Now Peter also betrayed Jesus by denying him, so Peter was also unclean, yet will you claim Peter was a lost man?

Secondly, do you admit Jesus picked Judas? Or do you believe Judas picked himself and slid into the group by himself without being invited to join the group?

Thirdly, in Mat 18:6 it says, "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."

So tell me, will ever single person who has ever caused a child to sin, are they all lost and better for them if they had drowned in the sea?

And tell me this, if we take Judas out of the equation, could God's will have been done?

Why don't the two of you take the debate to private messages or another part of the forum that allows debates?

As much as I am learning from it, I'd rather not have the mods close or clean it up or either of you to get into any trouble...

Believe I already "drew the line", on that matter.

Thanks be to God !

"do not murder" Suicide is a sin because you are murdering yourself. It may say it in the Bible, but I have never read it. You should never kill yourself, ever. I dont care if youve been in excruciating pain for 77 years. Life is to bueatiful to throw away. I tried to kill myself because my entire life sucked then and up to that point. But even though I was a Christian, I was a liberal one, I had not been personally saved, so I did not have the fruits of the Spirit, Joy, Peace, Prosperity; I was living in darkness, misery was my way.

Your friend needs to stay alive. The Lord will redeem him if he is faithful. I know how difficult things can be sometimes. When I younger I went threw hell. I thought killing myself everyday, several times an hour. But now the Lord has redeemed me. The World is Paradise when youre a christian. Firstly the Lord gives you the Spirit, then he gives you every material want as well. I mean the Spirit itself takes care of basically all material want, but Earth is good. Enjoy a good meal, play a video game, enjoy a cigarette, workout, goto church, read the Bible.
