  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So just how did you manage to think the person most famous for his opposition to Hitler was a Nazi?

Rather than supporting your assertions my avatar pretty much destroys your credibility at this point.

It's only the spirit of the man that knows who they are, Scripture says.

Well it seems the Catholics want to claim his as one of theirs and much of the secular press ignores his Catholicism. But is romantic ideals seem to be even more ignored. (Try to find something on 'My secret Germany').

You are antitheist alright.

I'll answer for myself. No. I am not against theism in a general sense. In point of fact if you seek to harm a member of the society of friends my respect for their beliefs just might be the only think keeping you whole. But I'd be just as happy to cause any trouble I can for the Westboro Baptists.

Basically I'll go with a Christian test. By their fruits you shall know them. That makes me anti some theists and pro others.

If you yourself would go with a Christian test, that would make you anti some Christians and pro other Christians.

I've heard someone describing themselves as antitheist atheist? What would this mean?

Chap. Bell

Many have believe that anti-theist and atheist is one of the same, but there is some different between the two.
1. Atheist is define as a belief in no God.
2. Anti-theist is define as against and hostile to any faith group, who trust in the God of heaven (JESUS).
3. "All anti-theists are atheists, but not all atheists are anti-theists."

I hope this help.
God Bless......

As far a other religions are conserned, they haven't really stood the test of time, as opposed to Christianity. The adherents of each and every other religion than Christianity have addapted the Western mores and morality long time ago; what would Japan be without their Western mode written Constitution, what would China be had Mao Tze Tung not addopted the Stallinist ways, same goes for Vietnam, etc.

As for the other pagan religion and the influence of Christianity on them in the context of today's West, I'll just say -- there can't be cake without icing.

If "standing a test of time" is your yardstick for the value of a religion, then perhaps you should be a Hindu, or Buddhist, or Zoroastrian, or Jewish....because these all have lasted longer than Christianity....

Dude, Hinduism is far older then christianity.
Some of the religions that have died off also have had a much longer life then christianity has had upto today.

That is completely demonstrably false.
In fact, most of our western secular democracies aren't even rooted in "christian values".

Japan? You mean that society that is among the least religious in the world? That society which is based on secularism?

You really need to stop equating "western" with "christian".

Who knows. What would Latin America be if... ow, wait... latin america is predominantly christian with very high religiosity and amongst the most violent dangerous regions in the world... Oeps!

Almost everything you take for granted in today's free western societies, was developed and implemented in the last 200 years. You know... AFTER secularism took over from theocratic thinking.

The most part of the period when christianity was an inherent part of the powers that were, is generally refered to as the "dark ages".

The free society you enjoy so much today, and which you attribute to christianity, actually only exists because we kicked the church out of politics.

Indeed.

I see our friend is from Nouvelle Caledonie, so he possibly has a French background. He should know, therefore, that all the magnificent advances the French gave us in the arts, science, literature occurred AFTER they stripped themselves of religious bondage...
