Tigersnare,

It’s me again. Remember I told you that I had always held a fairly simplistic view towards Christianity/Christian doctrine. Well, even though I’ve discovered that there are many, many deep complicated teachings/doctrines, I still possess a simplistic view. I just can not believe that God would have made following Him that complicated. In fact, Scripture even tells us this. See these verses:

Jhn 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1Cr 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity.

Mat 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this [which is done] to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Luk 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

1Cr 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith

Act 15:10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear

Mat 22:36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment

Mat 22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

ts, we both know that God does not lie. I believe Him and I trust Him. He tells me clearly through His written word that if I come to Him and believe in Him nothing is impossible. He tells me that if I believe and have faith I will not be confounded. I have seen with my own eyes the miracles that God has worked for faithful. Denominations don't count with God.

I guess what I'm saying is I trust the simplicity of my faith. The essentials are very basic . . . . If I have failed to answer your question sufficiently, please let me know and I will try to do better.

I want to know, what doctrine or doctrines most influenced your decision to be Protestant or remain Protestant after learning, studying, and researching other faiths.

This is a great topic! I'll never forget when I happened on to the doctrine that most influenced me.

About 14 years ago our son needed to go to Kindergarten and we lived in one of the worst school districts in the nation. Public schooling was not an option so we checked out Catholic schools (too crowed) an Episcopal school (too expensive) and a Lutheran school (just right). At the first 9 weeks conference the teacher met with me and said..."I see you haven't been to church in 9 weeks. When you signed your son up for school here you agreed to raise him in a Christian home." Little did I know she asked the children every Monday morning if they went to church and Sunday school. Well, I was mortified at this observation and agreed to immediately abide by our commitment.

So my husband and I took newcomer classes at the church affiliated with the school. When I walked into class that first night I was met by an energetic older woman who immediately offered her hand for a hearty shake and said, "Hi, my name is Jane and I am going to heaven."

I had been brought up Roman Catholic (8 years of RCC grade school, too!) and I had never heard anyone be so bold as to say they were going to heaven! I was so curious...how could she know? And then I learned that most influencial doctrine...salvation by grace through faith.

If anyone went to the week-long seminar on cults & other religions, at Billy Graham's "Spre-e '73" (Spriritual RE-emphasis) - folk were asked, evry day, to testify on the Friday what won them to Christ

No-one there will ever forget that each & everyone said that the deciding factor was the practical love shown them by true, born-again Christians!

If any readers are wondering how many choices there are - or why Luther originally protested against RC corruption - (giving the name protest-ant), research a scholarly 19th Century book, that has never been seriously challenged: "The Two Babylons" by Rev Alexander Hislop, tracing all the distinctive RC doctrines & practices to Babylon occult

(The 2nd Babylon is in Revelation 17 - the famous chapter about the infamous "Great harlot" - prophesied to support the final global tyranny of the Beast Antichrist of Revelation 13, 2 Thessalonians 2, etc, & to perseecute the true Bride of Christ - its title, "Mystery Babylon", shows that the Great Apostasy will be occult-led, as the Antichrist will be as full of Satan as Jesus was Incarnation of Almighty God)
