  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what do you want to say right now?

If you don't mind me asking what was your presentation on?

Hazing... it's a very emotional topic for me because I joined a Greek/Panhellenic sorority about two years ago and had to endure some horrendous rituals & pledging activities. :(

I thought that I'd be able to do the speech, but I started to break down at the very beginning when I was quoting from another survivor's story. It was just too similar to mine. I didn't start bauling, but it was difficult for me to speak because I had tears in my eyes and my voice was kind of shaky.

Anyways... I got an A! I also felt better about getting it out/ talking about it to the group... because there were Greeks in there and I hope I made a difference in whether or not they would participate in these kinds of degrading acts--ever.

I'm in a Christian sorority now... and it is such a blessing. When I went to my first meeting, we prayed together and sang worship songs. It was sooo different from what I had experienced with the Greek sorority.
