What do you want to get out of a movie?

Does where and how you see it have an impact on the type of movie you watch? DVD or Theater
Typically, when I walk out of a theater, I want have had an experience. I typically don't go to the theater for the "thinky" type movies. But, that's not the same, at home on DVD. I guess that's why I usually end up only seeing 6 or 7 movies at the theater, including those I'm obliged to go with the kids on.

I usually like to learn something about people and places when watching a movie and see characters grow and develop. Sharp smart dialogue is always great. It's more important when watching at home, because It's not as much of a sensory experience. I will watch a movie that isn't "brilliant" at the theater, because I'm usually there for "fun."

I guess that doesn't do a very good job of telling Hollywood that I want to see "Pride and Prejudice" when I'm home though.

What I want to get out of the movie is the interesting storyline with an unpredictable plot.

I want to see characters, not actors portraying them.

I want to hear dialogues that will stay in the head long after I left theater becasue of their wisdom or just humour.

I want the "it", something that right now I can't seem to describe, yet it makes you sit in the seat even though everyone got up and credits are rolling and think, replay, analyze the movie several times more.

I can't stand movies with no point. A stupid point is a better point then no point.
I can't stand when I hear actors say the lines and it's like they are just reading a piece of paper put somewhere behind the camera lens. Sleepy Hollows' Christian Ricci was perfect example of that.
I can't stand when people say something and try to be funny yet the comebacks are obvious, the lines are predictable and the whole situation is not funny.

That's what I think.

You mean when the actors are using a script? Yeah, don't you just hate that?:p

It really depends on the movie. I've seen "thinking" movies as well as pure entertainment movies in theaters.

I think more of what I want is a storyline where I can't predict what's going to happen. I like trying to figure it out and so often I just know what's going to happen. It would be nice to have some surprises.

The story is what I like the best. 'Spider-Man', 'Spider-Man 2' are two great movies solely because of the storyline. You care for the guy inside the costume. 'Superman: The Movie' is another example of a great storyline.

good question, and it varies when i need it.if i need to relax: humor. if i want to feel some action.....then something exciting. match the mood, thats all im asking for. i dont go for films that are documentarys if im looking for entertainment.the only film i viewed out of respect was The Passion of the Christ.
