• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In response to the OP, do you think it is immoral for Christians to read sites that attack God, or to post links to sites that attack God?

One of my concerns about the article is that she clearly hated aspects of the faith that any Christian should believe in, not just the quiversful movement. She thought the Bible was abusive for teaching that people are sinners. That's why I didn't put too much stock in her opinion about her experience. She decided to reject God and hate truth, so why would people assume she was write about other things she had a problem with in the quiverful movement, without her even giving the details. If she considered scriptures about Israel's righteousness being as filthy rags to be abusive, she had a distorted idea of what abuse was in the first place.

If the reason is a positive one, I do not think that it is immoral for Christians to read sites that attack God. It could be that the Christian wants to find out how they think in order to try and help them or understand them. On the other hand, without having some positive Christian motive, why would a Christian want to read or post links to sites that attack God?

I was surprised to see an article posted on this Christian Forum that stated

“I could not say that my husband’s patriarchal behavior was abusive so long as I was committed to a relationship with “The Big Guy” who exemplifies the abusive bully, and who commands his followers to imitate His very warped and twisted idea of “love.”

I did not see anything positive in her above post and saw it as an attack on our God and faith. Why would that be posted on a “CHRISTIAN FORUM”?

I saw some of those kinds of posts on another forum that was not Christian. I am no longer involved in that web site or any other web site that would post attacks against God and the Christian faith. I left because it seemed that some posters did not want to really find out about the Christian faith or our God but wanted to spew their bitterness and hatred onto our faith.

The woman that was involved in the quiverfull movement pointed out how a woman could be abused by a group that had a twisted view if scriptures. That is good information to know however, she then went into her bitterness and started attacking the Christian faith and God. That is why I made it clear that I was only posting about her attacks and not the other information that could possibly be of help to someone.

I do not think that it is appropriate to post something that is derogatory towards Christianity on a Christen forum like this one. On the other had I am glad that this forum is not so quick to censor topics anymore. However, there is a difference in topics such as submission, masturbation, sex and other topics that are mentioned in the Bible as opposed to topics posted that contradict and attack the very essence of our God and faith. There are other forums that love to have attacks against the Christian faith but this forum is pretty clear as to what it is interested in; hence the name of this forum CHRISTIAN FORUMS.

I feel that any topic that is discussed in the Bible should be discussed but that is for the authorities to decide.

I'm more concerned about how the person came to that opinion more than the opinion itself.

It's normally - from what I have experienced - how the truth of God is presented, and how human's tend to use faith, scripture, doctrine, etc to justified things they claim are done in the name of God. If they come from a twisted type of thinking - from what I read sounds like the group she was connected to was rather 'cultish' - the image is going to be warped as well.

I certainly don't agree with her, but it sounds like she was hurt badly. Human's tend to lash out when they find it safe to do so. Not saying that is the right thing to do, but people do it all the time. She was attacking the faith, because people used the faith to attack her - so she perceives it seems.

I've been praying for her, him, and their family.

I believe often times rejection of a stimuli is a valid response to oppression. I believe many times we take culture and mix that with our faith basically allow the "principalities in high places" to control how we worship and what we believe. What came to mind was slavery and how the Roman church used scriptures to validate black slaves and used the word to approve the dehumanization of an entire people. Out of this oppression we have NOI(Nation of Islam) which really isn't part of the Islamic faith any muslim will tell you they are not muslims. When there is faith based oppression there will be a faith based rebellion towards that religion. I mean think about it in the next few years weed won't be a sin the same way drinking beer now isn't. We have to much faith in our government and ruling class that we do not read for understanding.
