What do you think?

About the 7 days it took God to create the world? I mean could in some way God have really taken billions of years to actually create earth and its people? I mean, whe He created the Earth, He didnt create a calendar.. maybe the 7 days in His eyes werent recorded as OUR seven days... but i guess we wont know till we reach Heaven, huh?

Perhaps you are right Stephy! But it seems to be logical to believe it was 7 days. The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Books of the Bible in terms they could relate to. At the time the OT Books were written according to the Hebrew calendar there day was divided into eight 3 hour parts or 24 hours total. Their calendar was different from ours in that it contained only 354 days instead of 365. There was based on lunar cycles and thus every 3 years, roughly or 7 times in 19 years there was added an extra 29 day month.

Since all the things recorded in the OT are based on 24 hour days, it would be logical to assume that seven 24 hour days is the length of time God took for creation. And since the Bible is a Book of Precision, even to the point of having been inspired in the most precise language known to man, we have no reason to believe the creation days were any different from all the other days there recorded.

But as you say, there are a great many things we will not know for sure in this life, though all indications are that they were seven 24 hour days.

I believe the Bible is its own interpreter.

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day. Exodus 20:11

for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. Exodus 31:17

I love seeing people ask questions. Alot of people have them and are afraid to ask and question. But I give you this one piece of advice that I learned the hard way, always remember what is the most important thing about the passage your reading is. I do this: What did God say: He created... praise Him for that, then seek the deeper study. The importance of the passage is that He created :)

Gerry has it right, there are 354 days on the Jewish Solar-Lunar calendar except in years where it has 384. :)

You must also keep in mind that the concept of a 24 hour day didn't come into common use until about 2,000 years ago. The Hebrew day isn't based on hours at all and nothing like the concept of a "24 hour day" occurred to the ancient Israelites. The Hebrew day starts and ends at Sunset.

With that in mind go back and read what happened on the 4th day.

P.S. - there are only 6 days of creation. ;)
