  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yesterday I took my youngest daughter into our capital city to see the annunal agricultural exhibition. From my point of view these places are no place for small children so this was her first visit & she was wildy excited & had saved very hard so she had money to spend. 11 is a little too old to be asked to hold mummy's hand & we are used to travelling by public transport so she was standing a little behind me as our train pulled in. She knows to stay close & keep me in sight, especially in big crowds, but as we went to board a crowd of younger people began to really push & shove. My daughter grabbed for my jacket so we weren't separated but for a moment I thought we were both going to be trampled & I was shaking as we found our seats. Were we just unlucky or has society really degenerated that much? Where we live even our 'criminal' element does not behave like that boarding or disembarking from the boats. Even in countries where is is not customary to que I've never seen people behave in such a rude & thoughtless fashion.
