If I ever did this, I would have to avoid the shoes thing. I am a true southern girl, you know barefoot to do yardwork. I HATE shoes. If I could go shopping barefoot I would. OK anyway, tell me how it works out, I may join and then maybe I could convince her to start a "Redneck Flylady" page.
Too funny!! Those were my thoughts exactly before I joined. LOL

Okay, I'll admit it...I'm flyin' with the Flylady. I'm one of those "I clean it, but it never stays that way" types....meaning that when it gets on my nerves I'll clean it, but in a week it looks like I haven't touched it. The Flylady is a big help. I NEED all those reminders! Only been "flying" for a few days, but my shoes are on, and my sink is shiny!

You crack me up cuz I'm with you I hate shoes too, I'm from S.Cal. Sunny San Diego and we do frequent the stores barefoot if its down by the beach(they don't care) I just started and it sounds great the first chore they sent me on was to clean my sink:scratch: so I did, and they said don't let anyone dirty it put the dirty dishes right into the dishwasher, or rinsed and in a dish pan under the sink:) so I did and now my kitchen looks clean all the time:clap: ...course that was just between yesterday and today:sorry:

Hello! I love the FLY LADY!!

1. I think it works if you work it. She is so encouraging because you never feel behind. Well, you might, but she is always saying, "You are not behind, jump in where you are". I like that approach because the only pressure that we feel comes from our perfectionism. Flylady talks about this a lot. Another thing that she encourages us to do is to learn to Finally Love Yourself. That is the key, I think, and the thing that seperates her program from others.
2. Baby steps. I have been a member for 3 months now, and have only gotten a few routines down. Shining my sink, getting dressed from head to shoes, and making my bed daily. These three routines have helped me a lot. I know that I have a ways to go, but each routine I add keeps me feeling better about where I am at at the moment. I have also found her decluttering tips to be a great release.
3. There are a lot of email from her, but the reminders can be deleted once you have read the subject line. I have never gotten junk mail from her site.
Hope this helps. Good luck on your new journey of learning to fly.
hehehe want to hear my first "morning routine"

I'm suppose to do 3 things every day first thing

1. get ready head to shoes. (I don't got any laceup shoes so I'm always losing them in the house as I flip them off ect) took me at theast 20 minutes to find the shoes hehehe
2. make your bed. well the bottom sheet was in the dryer (for days) and so I had to dry that then I couldn't find the top sheet as it was lost somewhere in the messy house so I found it in the back of my closit...made the bed...30 min later
3. shine your sink...already did that  so my morning routine took about 2 hours today about 1:15 longer than it should tomorrow...but it did feel good:blush:

Oh I didn't do it first thing either which is important...I was so tired from staying up so late that I woke up late and had to drive kids to school first then start the morning routine...It will feel even better when I do it first thing:blush: Flylady sent me an email to go to bed on time too and I ignored it last night ...she's so sweet, next time I'll listen...

Obviously, I have not yet received my main mailings, so I am curious.

So how's it look to you so far Velcro? I signed up last night! Got your shoes on;) ?

:D Well, Tishri, I have barely begun, because I had a fabulous weekend with my SISTER, whom I had not seen in years! She is So Cute and beautiful and So Sweet! I love her more now than I ever did before! She and I were the youngest of five siblings, she being older than I by 3.5 years. Oh, I love her! I wish we lived near to one another!

Oh, this is about FlyLady! Sorry!

My house was fairly clean when she came, except for things here and there and my messy-messy office, which has never known a clean day. Unfortunately for me, she needed to use my computer! I made sure she was up-to-date on her tetnus shots and put my husband on alarm that should we not emerge within 30 minutes, he was to call the rescue squad.

Oh, and Sunday, I saw how bad the livingroom window sills were, wiping them down as well as the heat register in there -- and messed up a cloth doing it! I also noticed the yuck in the ceiling fan in my bathroom while she was standing under it. EEEEWWWW!

Otherwise, I am busy putting my journal together -- that is until I got side-tracked and got on here to read what everyone had written on Christian Forums. I bought a three-ring binder for mine.

To those of you who have been doing it and are employed outside the home:
  1. Are you able to get everything recommended done in the morning before you leave in the morning each day?
  2. Are you able to get everything recommended done in the evening when you get home each day?
Sometimes, when I come home, it is all I can do to make dinner, eat, and fall in bed.

Well I'm not flying right now, or even hopping yet hehe. But I think that your routines are up to you. What do you need to do to make life easier? that's how I'd look at it. Setting out my clothes might help if I'm not sure if I have enough clean ones. I'm full-time in school for a bit longer (merely weeks now!!whoopee!) so I set my schoolbooks in my backpack and put it by the door. Often my coat has been by the door too. that makes getting out worry-free. Brushing teeth and washing my face are habits that must be done before bed.
I think that most of the night routines are mostly having to do with making the morning better and easier, whether you work or not.

What are your own routines?

Wow! I have written two answers, and they both disappeared. Was I bad?

Part of what I said was that right now, my house looks pretty good, except for the yard and the office. I am still learning FlyLady's ways, adapting them to my lifestyle, hoping that they will make housework somewhat of a "game," rather than the drudgery I perceive it as right now. Hope it works!

Well my bed is made and I am dressed ( sans shoes) and my sink is clean. While understanding the shoe concept I have a no shoe policy already intact in my home because of the nasty sub strata in my driveway still awaiting blacktopping. If I know I will be going out the following day I find it very welcoming to have set out the clothes the night before and so not to be disappointed the next day to find something I like to wear and see that it needs ironing . :(

I think that she has some very useful tips that everyone can get something out of.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful site Vel!

I am glad it is working for you, Zayit! It works for me, but I have some issues, and I wonder what you and others think of them:

1. The emails -- they are cumbersome and repetitive. I chose the single, long email, and it is completely overwhelming to me for these reasons.
2. There are a lot of really good ideas on the site, some of which are for "flybabies," which are not readily available or easily found -- that I found a long time after I had joined "FlyLady."

Well, regardless, the house is clean. I have adapted her rules to fit my lifestyle -- for example, I do my dishes in the morning, rather than at night. And I don't "shine" my sink. I simply keep it clean. I live in an area where we must conserve water, so I will not fill my sink with water just to shine it. And besides, I believe in conservation, so I would not do that anyway.

I think that unless one adapts FlyLady's rules to fit one's lifestyle, it can be overwhelming -- like those who do not want to wear shoes. I wear shoes all the time, so instead of worrying about shoes, I have started making sure I put on (at least) lipstick every morning. Putting on makeup? I am not there yet. My daughter will not show her face without all her makeup on, but I could not care less. Maybe I should.

Regarding the routines MissJu brought up, I am trying to learn to stick to a routine. I never was one who was scheduled or who followed a schedule without chaffing, but I am learning -- a little. I am very spontaneous in most things, but I am learning!

Something just occurred to me. There are state Flylady sites, Christian FlyLady sites, SideTrackedSisters sites, ShesInTouch sites -- and probably more I never knew about. Why couldn't we start a specific Messianic FlyLady site? It could help us prepare for Pesach (!!), Yom Kippur, Hanukkah, etc., help newbies to Messianic living, help those Christians who wish to follow Torah, etc. I looked for something like this on the internet and found nothing.

I am completely computer-illiterate, or i would start it. But it is likely we could start it on Yahoo. We could spread the word, bringing our friends into the site. it is likely that legally, it must be approved by FlyLady or FlyLady's mentors.

What do you think? Is anyone here knowledgeable enough and willing to start it?

Good morning fly friendszzzzzz. Velcro looks like you DID start a group! How many have signed up since you posted this thread?

I love it! I can see my floor and counters again, I know that as the weeks go by I will have more time to do weird stuff(like the top of the refrigerator yesterday yuck:sick: was that dirty!) and that their will be a reminder to do it...I don't even have to think of it, flylady just suggests it , I do it, and delete it off my email list simple enough...and If I just stick to my 3 things in the morning and my 3 things at night then all I have to do is follow my emails and delete the ones that I don't care to do and save the ones I didn't get to that day but wanted to.

like the going to bed earlier email, she sends it at night but I read it in the morning as I was dragging myself around all morning and so the next night I followed her advice I read it and decided to get in bed earlier and it worked better the next day. still don't wear shoes though, that's just a habit that will have to wait till I see the need.

:clap:I found a check yesterday for $275 dollars from our inlaws, in a hot spot that I was cleaning and guess what? we were down to $75 dollars for the next 2 weeks in our account and could really use the money...thanks flylady! thanks Velcro for the tip about her!!!

As far as the "flying" groups go, I don't think they have to be approved or anything. I don't really like the way yahoo groups looks, though...it's all just one long string of posts...it's hard to "follow" a discussion. I have an account with a forum server...I could easily set up a forum for us if you want. It would look a lot like what we have here...with topic threads and subgroups and all. I don't have a whole lot of time to post, but I would be willing to volunteer to set it up...any takers?
