1. Failure to understand that it is not our presentation of Jesus that puts people off of Christianity, but our very lifestyles and worldviews. I do not mean this in the sense that it is our holiness that puts people off, but rather that our own cultural inertia has become Christianity and that it is this that makes you a Christian, rather than being a disciple.

2. Truly, really, fully depending on the world and learning with them, to allow them to depend on and learn with us - recognising that God is where people are, not just christians.

3. The belief that the sins of "the world" are somehow more infectous to us than the holiness of God in our lives is to "the world".

TIME...

10 out of 10 people die at a time they do not know. Everyone without the payment for sin (Christ) will have to pay for thier own sin when they stand before God.

Each of us is only here for a short time, and most believers fail to share thier faith with non-christians.

Everything else fails to come close to that. We have many false converts that do damage to Christianity (which the bible sates will always exist), but the true core that fails to do its job is worse.

Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself, be sure of that. -Spurgon

Christians being exclusive, thinking they're better than others, dominating the Churches making Christian haters. I don't mean people who hate Christians, but Christians who hate others or other Christians who want to be inclusive. A good example is the Christian only part of this forum. If you are not exclusive, you are excluded.

You know, I head that jello was a Christians way of showing off. To make jello you had to have a refirgerator, not an ice box. So to bring jello to the church potluck was to show off without being proud.

facing christians not the church???
though we are th church, but i t kinda makes it more on a persoanl level opposed to huge general level.
so id say definatly money. i mean i dont know any christians apart from a select few who talk openly about what they do with their money. and its such a big part of our lives in the rich west. ( im not talking about giving to churches and charities and tithing i mean everyday what do you spend your money on?)
accountabilty which i guess would encompass the first. and would hopefully challenge us on a lot more.
love. the bit about loving your neighbour as yourself. that will allways have to be our biggest challenge.
though i think all 3 of these things are related and work together.

Christians lack of mercy and grace for others.

My sentiments also.
I'd also add the way some christians will happily condemn others to hell and damnation because some (christian or non christian) are not as zealous as they are.

1) General disinterest in following the teachings of Jesus, especially the commandment to love one's neighbor.

2) Widespread lack of meaningful worship in an atmosphere where the television show and the music concert are seen as appropriate models for a worship service.

3) Fundamentalism, including Inerrantism, Dispensationalism, and the whole Christian Right movement.

Could be a family reunion, tulc. I went to a family reunion years ago where everybody was supposed to bring a covered dish. The dinner consisted almost entirely of baked hams, potato salads, and jello molds.

1)America and Europe. I would be pretty confident in saying that 90% of the people on this forum are from America or Europe. We hate ourselves for some reason, even the little fishy sign is being used as a way to snootily proclaim your faith for all to see (the OPPOSITE of it's purpose). If you live in rural China, you had better be careful about proclaiming your faith as a Christian. Here, we have other competingly snooty bumperstickers with darwin fish eating Jesus fish. America and Europe: our sin is pride and complacency.

2)The unwillingness of Christians and the Catholic church especially to enter into meaningful dialogue with other religious traditions (esp. hindhuism, buddhism). It's time to pull a Paul and try to find the holy spirit in the new "gentiles" (i.e the other 40% of the world)

3)The failure of Christians to use their positions of power to bring modern technology to bear on the problem of poverty. No group was as beloved by Jesus as the poor, we focus on war and forget about the poor. Without a life full of works, faith is dead. This is also true on a scale made up of the whole of the body of Christ, we Christians have all the power in the world but we have not followed Christ's lead, our faith is dead.
