  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you do when you're afraid of...

Hi I53,
I know, I used to see these verses as you do. But under closer scrutiny, they do not hold up:

Just a brief scan in Chapter 5 yielded this:

Rev 6
9 And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, Until when, Master, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given to each one of them. And it was said to them that they should rest yet for a little time, until both their fellow servants and their brothers (those about to be killed as they were ) should have their number made complete.

That looks like believers and therefore the church is still there.

I remember this one..
You quoted the Matthew version. Look at the Luke version, especially the question the apostles ask, and Jesus answer!

Luk 17:
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two in one bed, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two shall be grinding together, one will be taken, and the other left.
36 Two shall be in the field, one will be taken, and the other left.
37 And they answered and said to Him, Where, Lord? And He said to them, Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

Weymouth renders 37 like this:
Luk 17:37 "Where, Master?" they inquired. "Where the dead body is," He replied, "there also will the vultures flock together."

They ask where the one who is taken will be taken to. His answer is nothing that would resemble the rapture. It resembles death... either by tribulation or by the battle Armageddon.
