What do we all have in common?

Much of what non-Christians do is sinful. A whole lot. So if we do not do those things (since we are to avoid sin), we will have little in common with them.

In my opinion, you have to have things in common with the "them" that you speak of because WE used to be them; that makes us better at witnessing to the masses of non believers.  If you have shared some of their experiences or something similar to what they have gone through in the past that will help you create a future in Christ for them by planting that seed!

The bible does not say "avoid sin" but it does talk about being made clean. Well are any of us truly capable of avoiding sin? No. It's there. You can't ignore it. And I'm not going to sit here and ignore my husband when I know salvation exists for him. Open your mind and your heart. Open it and truly love your sinful neighbor next door. The only way someone who is completely embroiled in sin is going to come to salvation is through Love. You can't have faith without Love. So, I disagree with you. Christ is a positive force in my life, honey. Not a negative one. Find love and he can be a positive force in yours as well. Light encompasses the darkness. Not the other way around. Try it and see. The light I mean. Then the rest of what I say will become truth to you.

Basic science lesson... take a dark corner of your house and move a light toward it. What happens to it? It doesn't get darker. You should be moving toward sin and those around you have sin in their life. Why? To encompass their darkness with your light. And you can't get close without taking on some of their characteristics. Eventually, they will lose their darkness and your light will seem brighter, simply because darkness was eradicated. You have to be familiar with and speak the language of your enemy to defeat him. Basic combat. We are at war, aren't we? Blend, camoflauge, infiltrate... encompass them slowly in our light until no longer, darkness exists.

I was trying to convey the fact that we are not to sin. Not that we can not go near sinners, because everyone is a sinner. Nor that we can not go near people that are sinning, because everyone sins. But while near them we must not sin ourselves (as with anyother place and time), and we must tell the non-Christians of God, His Word, Jesus, what Jesus has done for them if they believe, and show them how God has changed us and show them love.

You simply misunderstood me. Ofcourse we are to witness to non-believers and show them love.
