Without wanting to excuse their actions;
Is it not true that we have meddled in their - and indeed most of the third world's business - even when we should not. Especially when we shouldn't have.
Maybe so but it's irresponsible to jump right to killing anyone who disagrees with them.

If every country operated like terrorists, we would have World War III.

It's not about deferring to the terrorists and letting them attack us at will. The thing is, if we actually addressed the source of the problem, there would be no need for retaliation because they wouldn't have attacked us in the first place.
In their world, the U.S. would give & give & give & probably be asked to give more before terrorists give an inch.

Look at the issue with the Pope's comments about Muslims or the cartoon fiasco. First they call for death. Then they want countless apologies. But no one is allowed to criticize a Holocaust exhibit because we are infringing on their rights.

They are insanely irrational. You'll go crazy trying to please them.

Thank you for an excellent summary of truth from all the rest of the world outside of the USofA.

Lie, cheat, steal and kill all infidels. Read the Qu'ran and you wouldn't have to ask that guestion. It's a simplistic idea that has no effectual contermeasures except "do unto them before they do unto you"

But it can't be solely because of their religion. Afterall, the old testament has it's own share of violent revenge upon those that would harm God's children right? But Christians (nowadays) have managed to progress to a stage where they aren't forcing anyone to convert using violent methods.

So what are you saying? Muslims will evolve into evangelical light bringers of Allah? Their religion is constant the same as it has been for over a thousand years. No evolving yet.

Christians are within the last 2 thousands years. OT people were totally different. Beside that OT people were total wackos. God came up with a different plan and got rid of them and involved the gentiles with the advent of His Son Jesus. There was no progressing, evolving or transitioning for Christians. They are a total different religion than OT Israelites.

What I'm wondering is whatever happened to the Muslim drive for study. There was a time when they were among the world leaders in astronomy, algebra, etc.

Whatever happened to that mentality? I know there ARE Muslims who truly reject what the extremists are saying, but why isn't there a wider and louder condemnation of what the extremists represent among their fellow Muslims? Of late, the Western World (I.E. European nations along with India and the U.S. and Canada have surpassed the Islamic world in terms of medical, technological and scientific research.

In other words, where are the Taqi al-Dins, Nasir al-Din al-Tusis or the Muhammad ibn-Rushds (all related to astronomy) of the Islamic world today?

I'd love to see a Rennaisance in the Islamic world, where they returned to the drive for advancing the world's knowledge in all the areas I mentioned before.

Hmm, agreed. I mean, doesn't Western civilisation owe alot to the people of the mid-east?

The Sumerians passed on their knowledge to the Greeks, Greeks to Romans, etc.
