What do most Calvinists believe about the 144,000?

I'm posting this because I saw this article :

How many Calvinists here agree with him here or disagree? Especially his statement "It would appear from the context that the 144,000 are literally people taken from the 12 tribes of Israel". Please provide a short 2-3 sentences why yes or no. Even if you just answer yes or no; I want to know the "popular vote" on this. This is not to debate the issue just to survey like when its the first day of a class and everyone says 1-2 sentences about themselves. Thanks

The 144,000 is not literal.

1) 12 x 12 x a thousand is a way of saying "a really big number" because 12 is more than you can count on your fingers and a thousand was almost unimaginable for people of the era.

2) If they are taken literally from the 12 tribes, where will those pure-blooded people from each tribe be found since many of those tribes ceased to exist long before Jesus.

3) Numbers in Revelation are strange. Take the exact dimensions of the New Jerusalem. It is a cube that is 12,000 stadia wide, long, and high. A stadia is 600 ft, so the city is over 1300 MILES high.

excellent answer; I agree. Now please look at this and see if you agree: If Judah had 2 tribes, and Israel had 10 when they split kingdoms: You have 24,000 original Israel+ 120,000 gentiles grafted into spiritual Israel= 144,000. That's Galatians 6:16. Now the first "gentiles" to convert were 120,000 in Jonah chapter 4. It just so happens the numbers in Jonah chapter 3 and 4 were 3x40x What?? guess what??? the number 1,000 ding ding ding= 120,000!!!. Yes Jonah literally happened but I hammering the point that 120,000 means election for the fullness of gentile believes, so we see that 144,000 includes gentiles not just Jews as dispensationalists would have us believe.

I believe it represents the Israel of God, which is all true sons of Abraham, believers.

My husband has an interesting theory. The 144,000 are male, virgin Jews from all tribes. His speculation is they could be the baby boys who were drowned in the Nile at the time of Moses.
