Hi there, I am a Christian born and raised. My parents aren't super religious but they have taken me to church when I was a kid. My grandma, who also raised me as well is very religious and has influenced me to be religious.

However these days, it seems like my life is falling apart and I am starting to lose faith in God and my religion. I just got left by my boyfriend, I am earning minimum wage, I barely have enough to sustain myself, and it seems like no one is really there to support me and comfort me in times when I really need it. Is it God's will that I go through this? I thought he was supposed to give me blessing. I don't know.... I feel really lost and I think I am starting to lose my faith.... What do I do? How can I keep my strength in Him and trust that He will lead me the way when I don't even know where my life is headed to right now?

You've told us what you want the Lord to do for you. Remember that it's a two-way street.

James 1:2 NLT says Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.
God isn't trying to make you lose faith in Him or weaken you. Everything that is going on in your life is for His purpose. In this time, you need to be praying. God wants you to prosper, but first He has to eliminate everything that is blocking you from being closer to Him. Also he wants you to humble yourself so you can receive the higher blessings He has for you. The battle is Gods. Surrender yourself to Him.

Christ himself is our great reward, the King of Kings and His great salvation is the greatest blessing one can ever obtain in this life. Salvation isn't about earthy blessing, just read about what happened to the disciples, and all the persecution throughout Church history. What does it mean to be "crucified with Christ"? Intellectual strength can be obtained through discipline in Christian philosophy, theology, apologetics. Heart strength through devotion to Scripture study and meditation. Emotional strength is fortified by the former two, however we all have our personal limitations.

I am no great source of advice, but I would suggest you consider crying out to God with your frustrations and difficulties, and pray for his comfort. I know, sometimes it is really hard when you want a person there to support you. But tell God that, too. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

"Faith comes by hearing the Word of God", Anne. Immersing yourself in God's Word and living it out may sound redundant but is the Only way to stay on the straight and narrow road. God bless :)

God does give us blessings, this is true, but this is not Heaven. We can't expect to have it 100% good all of the time. Living on Earth means that sometimes things will go badly, unfortunately. But it's okay because in the end, God will be there for us. And besides, God's blessings have not stopped for you completely. There are many blessings that he is still giving you that might not be as apparent. For example, you were able to wake up this morning. That's a blessing. I'm assuming that you can see, hear, and taste things. Those are other blessings. And there are many other blessings that you are being given right now too. You just need to look around and take a closer look at everything around you.

Try to be optimistic about your situation and keep praying. And in the meantime, do continue to reach out to others who may be able to help you. Sometimes churches can help you in situations like this. Try to see if perhaps a nearby church or your school (if you go to school) has a food pantry or knows of any higher paying jobs. That can really help you if you're struggling to get by.

I am starting to lose faith in God and my religion.
I'm sorry your boyfriend has left you. It hurts to be left, but that is not a reason for doubting God.
Nor is having a poorly paid job.

There is nothing wrong with having questions or doubts about what you believe.

It is what you do with them that matters.
use the internet to search for answers to your question/doubts, ask your minister to answer them.

Try sites like coldcasechristianity, toughquestionsanswered or reasonablefaith.

If you are a true christian then your life will consist of not just blessings but there will also be crosses to bear and carry. This is how God deals with His true followers.

5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

12Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13“Make level paths for your feet,”so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. Hebrews 12:5-13

Christian faith blesses us with the promise of forgiveness of sins, and eternal life in Heaven. If we also do the right things and don't brag about them or use them as leverage with other people, there's also the promise of rewards in Heaven. A good life on Earth is not promised. In fact, trouble and even persecution was predicted for those in the church.

I don't suppose I have enough information to give an answer about one getting "left" by a boy friend, but as to being a Christian the Bible makes that answer plain (see 1 Jn. 5:10-12 in a sound Bible like KJV or NKJV). Without having that scriptural promise one does not have what is needed to receive help and blessings from God. If one believes in God, THEN, one needs to receive His "...so great salvation" by receiving the Lord Jesus into their heart as Savior and Lord of their life (note John 14 especially, and all of the Gospel by John).

Being "religious" is not what God asks of us. A reference to being "born and raised" a Christian is not what the Bible shows us. I hope the writer will seek God's pathway as given in His immutable Word. I do pray for you, Heyanne.

Hi there, I am a Christian born and raised.

No one is "born Christian." As has been said: Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once. A person is only a Christian, a child of God, if they have had a second, spiritual birth. Have you had one? Do you know what it is to be "born again"? If not, you have yet to be "born Christian."

My parents aren't super religious but they have taken me to church when I was a kid.

My folks took me to the hospital when I was a kid but that didn't make me a doctor. It's also true that going to church doesn't make you Christian.

However these days, it seems like my life is falling apart and I am starting to lose faith in God and my religion. I just got left by my boyfriend, I am earning minimum wage, I barely have enough to sustain myself, and it seems like no one is really there to support me and comfort me in times when I really need it.

God is a Father to His children. Are you one of His children? Have you trusted in Christ as your Saviour and repented of a life lived with you at its center rather than God? His comfort and blessing He bestows on those who know and love Him and who live in obedience to Him. Is this you?

I feel really lost and I think I am starting to lose my faith.... What do I do? How can I keep my strength in Him and trust that He will lead me the way when I don't even know where my life is headed to right now?

Head knowledge is not heart faith. Merely agreeing to the idea of God and Christ is not what brings a person into fellowship with their Maker. It is belief that anticipates change, that expects to be different as a consequence of what is believed, that is the sort of belief that connects us to God.

It's only in the midst of living a life in faith and obedience to God that His will for you will be discovered.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Romans 10:9-13
9...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Well if your in a financial burden then start with a simple prayer that God will help you through the tough times. Then continue to work hard on your job and once you see improvements in your life overtime you will be able to thank God that he helped you through your struggles even if that is not right now in your current situation.

Do as Jesus instructed: pray, fast, vigils, even alms. And above all, do it in secret so God will reward you.

Have you read the Gospels?
