Notice that even 80% of Trump supporters are sure the world is round. Which is very encouraging.

In modern times, in what they call pre-school.
One of the very first things, on the very first day, that the teacher will be instructed to do is have the class see and touch a globe.

Did you attend pre-school? Do you remember seeing and touching a globe on the first day? I do.

Nasha "to deceive".

Not in pre-school, no. I didn't attend pre-school. I don't remember seeing a globe in infants school either (5-7 years old). I seem to remember seeing one in junior school (7-11 years old), but as it fitted with actual observation, I don't think it was to beguile or deceive. For example when I was 8, my parents took me and my two brothers on holiday to the Netherlands. We sailed there. We couldn't see the Netherlands from England, but as we got closer, we could see it, exactly as one would expect on a globe.

Thanks for contributing ozso but what i'm trying to find out is why were our parents generation taught that the earth was flat and yet our generation was taught that the earth was round.

What happened during that short space of time for the Gov to change it's view to now teach round earth.
With what I have so far , it doesn't appear to show any cult , maybe just odd ball teachers , I don't know.
Will wait for further results.

Well what if the results show that the majority of the people asked said they learnt flat earth in school , wouldn't you be curious , wouldn't you want to know why?
There is one teacher, who does not lie, ever.

Man lies every day - it is taught to them, and practically (they say) required of them to lie even after they learn it is a lie.

And it is him who I will believe forever.

We do not live on a spinning ball.
Who do you think is the "one teacher who does not lie ever? I imagine you believe as I do, that it is Jesus Christ, the perfect God/Man. Perhaps you could enlighten me, if that is the case. Where do we read of Jesus teaching that we do not live on a spinning ball?

His words all through out the Bible.
His words through the whole bible? Here are some of His words from the bible:

"Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mt 4:19 NKJV)

““For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Joh 3:16 NKJV)

““Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11:28 NKJV)

No mention there of the shape of the earth, or whether it rotates on its axis. So it clearly isn't all the words of Jesus recorded in the bible. I can't think of one verse where He mentions the earth's shape, or whether it rotates. You say He does, so just provide one example. Obviously if Jesus really said that the earth is a flat disc and that it does not rotate, I would believe it, but I am 99.9% certain that He didn't even mention such things.

Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?” 58“Truly, truly, I tell you,” Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59At this, they picked up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus was hidden and went out of the temple area.… John 8:58

King James Bible
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Rev 1:8

Jesus knew exactly what was written in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

But where in the verses you quote does He teach that the earth is a flat disc which does not rotate? When I asked: "Where do we read of Jesus teaching that we do not live on a spinning ball?" you replied: "His words all through out the Bible." So come on, which of His words teaches the earth's shape and whether it rotates?

Unmovable.
Genesis 1 & the firmament.
A circle.
It's boundaries.
The sun stopping.
It's foundations.
Measurements of the earth & so much more.

Unmovable.
Says nothing about shape.
Genesis 1 & the firmament.
You have agreed befroe that Genesis 1 does not mention the earth's shape.
A circle.
If you mean that Isaiah verse I am not going into that gain but it does not say that the earth is a circle.
It's boundaries.
That doesn't refer to its shape, just its limits.
The sun stopping.
Not the earth's shape.
It's foundations.
Not its shape.
Measurements of the earth & so much more.
Cannot a sphere be measured?

As I've told you before, "level" is equidistant from the centre of the earth. If the Bible supports a level earth, then it supports a globe earth.

I just watched a vid where the guy says that he asked his 90 yr old mother if she thought the earth was round or flat , and she said it was flat , said she learnt that in school.

So I asked an 80 yr old friend of mine the same question , and she said it's flat too , and that that's what they taught her in school. She said if it was round we would fall off you idiot...lol

So I said well when I went to school they taught us the earth was round , and we were both left scratching our heads....
So if there is anyone here aged around 80 plus , what did they teach you in school , round or flat earth?

Please let's not make this another flat earth thread , there is enough here already.
I'm more interested in what we were taught at school , and at what point did they cease teaching flat earth to teaching round earth.

My daughter works in aged care and said she would help by asking her elderly customers. Looking forward to the results of that , should be interesting.
I got hit with a round stick and then a flat stick so I would know the difference.

Then someone hit me with a rhythm stick. I did a clog dance along a yellow brick road, made some imaginary friends, saw a wizard, drenched a witch and learned to stop asking questions about reality.

If my wife could see how productive I am being on this forum, she might hit me with a stick !!
