I am sure this was asked here before, but I cannot find it after searching, so I have a question for the creationists, what creation story is the "correct" one? I've heard many, here is a short (and very simplified) list:
1. The Hebrew one (you know, Adam, Eve, 7 days).
2. Pan Gu and Nu Wa: from the Chinese culture, Pan Gu and Nu Wa and two gods, the first created (and became) the Earth, the second, several centuries later, created humans from mud because she was lonely.
3. Second and fourth Brahmanas (Indian): In the beginning the world was only Brahma, but he was alone, and grew with time, eventually growing as large as two people embracing and finally splitting into a man and a woman, and they mated originating the human race.
4. Odin and Ymir (Borse): The first man (Ymir, a frost giant) was created from the drips of thawing ice. The thawing ice gave rise to other people, including Odin, the most powerful god. Odin, along with his brothers destroyed Ymir and his remains became the earth.
5. Kumulipo (Hawaii): Life originated from the mating between a deep cavern (male) and the darkest night (female). First the primitive sea animals were created, eventually land animals, and finally humans.
I could go on and on, there are literally hundreds, but you get the message. So, which one of these is the "correct" creation story, and why? I have always struggled with this (and please don't say "because the bible says so", every one of those stories is documented in some sort of book).
