Every one he says in the gospels, which are all the ways of Loving-Obeying God our Father and loving one another. What commandments is Jesus talking about in -
Jn 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Does Sabbath make some people crabby?
Sorry but I'm not going out in public with a blindfold on. Looking is one thing desiring a physical connection is quite another. I simply don't want something that doesn't belong to me.
That's sounds like a misquote to me.
It certainly does.
On the contrary -
Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
There's more. This one is my all time favorite.
John 5:45Hagar represents unbelief, not Torah. Ishmael represents the seed of the serpent, which is the enemy of the children of promise, represented by Isaac. The distinction that your passage addresses is unbelief versus belief, not "law versus grace". Did the Pharisees uphold Torah or the tradition of men?
Mark 7:9
"He said to them, “Well you reject the commandment of Elohim that you may establish your traditions.”
I love the end of verse 29.Please read the allegory in Gal 4 again.
Hagar represents unbelief, not Torah.
That not part of the allegory. The gist of it is a plea from Paul to Galatians, to not revert to their former way of life, "when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods." (Galatians 4:8)
Did someone suggest keeping the law was sin? What does that have to do with the commandments of Jesus?Who are the two groups being addressed?
Galatians 6:4
"Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else,"
Outward religious appearance (like the Pharisees) of unbelievers.
Galatians 6:10
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers"
Galatians 6:12-13
"Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised ."
Outward religious appearance (like the Pharisees) of unbelievers.
Unbelievers and believers are being addressed.
Galatians 6:1
"Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted."
So the sin here is keeping Torah?
Galatians 5:24
"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
Is this a passion and desire to keep Torah?
Tell us what is wrong with washing up before you eat. These people are accusing other of sin, because they didn't do what the controllers wanted. Here the Pharisees got way more than they bargained for. But since you're arguing for the traditions of the Jews, what does it have to do with the commandments of Jesus?Again I ask:
Did the Pharisees uphold Torah or the tradition of men?
Mark 7:9
"He said to them, “Well you reject the commandment of Elohim that you may establish your traditions.”
Don't these pharisees sound familiar. They were circumcised, yet, they didn't keep the Law. They were unbelievers who did everything for show. They were of the flesh, because they held to their traditions. They abandoned the Torah, and so they did not accept or recognize the Messiah, even as He stood right in front of them.
So what. We're not discussing Paul in this thread. And specifically his past life as an unbeliever.Galatians 5:11
"Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished."
Paul formerly preached Pharisaism, when he did not believe in Messiah. He was of the cirumcision that held to traditions of men and not to Torah. The law he refers to is the oral law of Rabbinic Judaism.
?Galatians 5:9
"A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."
Sound familiar?
Matthew 16:6
"Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees."
What commandments is Jesus talking about in -
Jn 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
The commandments are all the commandments of Christ in the books of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. To say Christians need to keep the law of Moses is to say Christ did not fulfill the law when he died: all the law is fulfilled in this saying, you shall love your neighbor as your self: Greater love have no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
When a man is baptized into Christ, he is baptized into his resurrection. And so being in the person of Christ, he is dead to the law by the body of Christ that was crucified: then he is to fulfill the commandments of Christ in the person of Christ and Christ gets the glory.
