What books would you recommend for a YEC?

Hi:

I'm currently investinging non-YECism. What 1 or 2 books would you recommend I read related to Origins/Evolutions/Earth Age/Genesis that present alternative views?

Say you had a YEC friend that told you they'd be willing to read a book (with an
open mind and bible) you gave them that presented your view or an alternative view..what would it be?

It provides the most comprehensive overview of all the science side of these debates. I would also recommend Finding Darwin's God for the science aspect, although I am not in complete agreement on the theology.

Another source would be a book called The Genesis Debate, which you can find here:

I have not yet read it (I have it ordered), but it seems to cover all three viewpoints: YEC, OEC and a non-literal reading of Genesis 1 and 2.

it is a good first book, Framework comes off really good there.

Do they treat the issues fairly? I've read a few articles regarding Radiometric dating that I found helpful.

2nd recommendation for this one...interesting. What do you find objectionable about the theology in the book?

Talk Origins actually does a pretty good job of presenting both sides of the scientific debates fairly (in some cases giving the YEC argument more credit than it deserves, in fact), but they still present the bottom line that the YEC propositions are wrong (and explain why in great detail). Very, very rarely do they cross over into anti-religious statements.

As for Finding Darwin's God, it was a long time since I read it, but I recall that he took a too impersonal view of God. More theism than Christianity. But, his explanation of the science and how it fit within a theistic framework was very good.
