Of course the essential is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I agree with full passion! Douglas Adams is hilarious. I also love J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Brian Jaques, C.S. Lewis, and Terry Pratchet. Yep yep.

The Sword of Shannara series takes the top spot by a light year. Best story, best characters, best quality writing. Amazing.

The Darksword Trilogy was awesome too.

I really disliked Lord of the Rings. I read them at about the same time I was reading The Sword of Shannara and Shannara was just by far a more engaging and awesome adventure. I might appreciate TLOTR now if I read them, but I REALLY hated them when I read them in GR.7.

Almost any Star Trek book is awesome. Particularly the New Frontier series by Peter David. Hilariously awesome.

Also any William Shatner Star Trek novel. Sheer brilliance.

I just finished reading Christie Golden's new Star Trek books: Homecoming and The Farther Shore. The were excellent! She's an awesome author, and these books were really good.

If I had to pick one thing I didn't like about the book, though, it would be how she really gets into Chakotay's "spirit guide" stuff. I could do without it. Other than that, though, she did a really good job on the books. They're a must-read for all Voyager fans.
