  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are you working on now?

I finished one shawl, changed several projects and completed a second shawl which is more of a fancy scarf than shawl...my stitches are too big. Continueing on a third crochet shawl and going to sew my beautiful black white/gray brocade into a reversable shawl heming hubbies pants and finally, if I have time complete one of the two bags I started a shile ago.

I've got three more seams to sew on a variable star twin sized quilt (in pastel fabrics) and then it will be a top! made the binding last night and will cut and piece the backing this afternoon.
Quilt pattern is "Amadeus" from the book "Miss Rosie's Quilt Collection" by Carrie L. Nelson.

Back in Jan of 2007 i ordered a fat quarter tower of "Winsome" fabric line by Benartex, just waiting until i could make this quilt. I've since added some more fabrics so i would have enough of each color needed. now the top is almost ready to be quilted, and i'm really pleased with how it is comming out.

Cool cards youthwalk!

I'm working on another Linus blanket. It is a Melissa Leapman pattern, but since I'm not fringing it I used a chain-free single crochet foundation to start it off. Neat technique and way easier to count than starting chains.

I just found a pattern for a crochet sweater-jacket that uses that single crochet starting technique. I'm itching to get started on it, but have some hats to finish on the Knifty Knitter first. Those hats work up really fast. I'm working on some yarn-stash reduction.

Just started the first of 3 matching shrugs -- one for my sister in-law, one for my 6 yr old niece and one for the niece's new American Girl doll. All will be in RH Lavender. Thought it might be cute to see Mom, daughter and dolly in matching outfits for Christmas.

I'm done my shawls!!!! Woohoo! Here they are. Now I have to finish hemming pants and ironing clothes.

The 1st and 4th are the same shawl, but reversable...it's brocade. The lighter side looks gold, but is actually a shiny gray/silverish color. The 2nd & 5th are the same pink one, with the middle being the pink over a different gray one which I meant to attach but now can't figure out how to delete #2 and replace it! next post

I am currently working on a reader's wrap from the new "Think Pink - Crochet for a Cure" book, but have uncovered a major problem with it. While the pattern itself does not seem to be a problem, the materials list is way off. Even though my guage is spot on I am only getting 10 inches to a skein of Vanna's Choice (the yarn the pattern calls for) so 4 skeins is not going to be enough to go 60 inches plus make 2 pockets. If it weren't for the fact this is a Christmas gift for my sister it wouldn't bother me as much. But now I have to find tme to get to the Michaels in the nearby city and hope I can find the same or a close matching dye lot.

For a pre-Easter prayer vigil I made 50 small drawstring bags. I also made 45 assorted daffodil pins to give out to friends and just at random.

Now I am working on outfits for 5 inch baby dolls. They remind me of the larger doll outfits my Grandmaother made out of worsted weight cotton. These are done in size 10 thread. For 2 of the dolls I would like to make the bassinet purses I found a pattern for, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the hood. I'll get it sooner or later.

Working on a turtleneck for my son and praying I have enough yarn! I am using the same type of yarn the pattern calls for (different color), gauge is spot on, but.......

Luckily if I run out with only the sewing, collar and cuffs to do I can substitute a solid black (since the print is mainly black and son OK'd the idea).
