A History of Philosophy: Albert the Great to Duns Scotus Volume 2, Part II by Frederick Copleston, S.J. I came across the whole series years ago for little to nothing and have been slowly working through it.

I am re-reading Arthur C. Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

It is certainly dated. The Soviet Union still exists, not to mention in 2001 having a base on the moon and a manned mission to the Saturn system. But it is still an excellent read and does a good job of portraying a Kardashev Type III civilization.

It is different from the Kubrick film. The spacecraft Discovery is head to Saturn, not Jupiter. The Monolith is not near Jupiter's moon Io but on Saturn's Iapetus

Does anyone else keep a paper and pen beside them when reading things just in case you come across anything noteworthy you want to record down?

I did in the past but I moved to a digital commonplace book instead. Evernote works well for that.
