I added an SSD of about the same size to my pc a couple of yrs ago... huge difference in speed. Had to strap her to the floor, and I never knew one could get a ticket for cruising the Information super Highway.

Seriously though, memory used to be the most practical upgrade we could do but the solid state drive may have moved memory to 2nd place.

Interesting. I just bought a SSD but have not installed it just yet. Maybe this week. Good to know they work well.

Right now...an ol' HP 2000 laptop (poor thing is falling apart...hoping to get a nice desktop in the future).

Sometimes I use my tablet...got it off a girl friend of mine and works great for mobile gaming. ^_^

Only once or twice have I used my smartphone to get on here...the battery power is kinda bad, so I try to conserve it until I'm at home.

Me too, am using a HP 2000 lap top. Actually have a few of them now. I really like the keyboard on these models ( without the 10 key on the side ). Also like the delete button on the upper right corner. Very comfortable for my hands. I buy 'em used/refurbished on ebay. They are cheap and I wear it out, already have a replacement. Happy with that model.

First thing I noticed was boot time, it was cut to a fraction. You probably already know but if you have several drives, and you should at least have the one in there now, be sure to use the SSD as C, or windows drive, and any other ones for storage, then put your browser and all other programs you use a lot, at least as space allows, on that SSD with windows, that way they run faster.

Yeah, boot times are fast. My new laptop has a SSD. Wasn't happy with the lower memory (then again.. I hardly download anything), but it's nice. Feel safer carrying my laptop around too, since I don't have a spinning disc I have to worry about malfunctioning.

Past laptops if I held them a certain way would make a whirring sound. Then I'd have some hard drive issues, lol.

Yeah, I could notice a huge difference when I went from my old desktop to my new laptop, which has a SSD.

For browsers, I'm not sure why I stuck with IE for so long. It's just the browser that I've always used, so I wanted to stick with it. At times IE makes my computer run so hot, the fan will be constantly running at full speed. It mainly does it with certain websites - CF and YouTube seem to be the worst. I switched back to Google Chrome recently, and haven't had any more issues. Needless to say, my battery also lasts much longer now.

1 tb ssd 650 dollars *faints*

I know.

I'd guess some get it but I've been accused of being paranoid when I claim it's a racket and has been from the start with all PC parts.

Instead of just making the 1tb and selling it for a reasonable price for instance, they start with a few gb at high price and ease the size up it up so they sell more. The 1tb will come down in price eventually, the very reason I got a 250gb for windows and just store on my standard hard disks, 70-80 bucks? Something like that.

FWIW, the SD's are supposed to be more reliable to/less loss of data for those like me that don't back up when they should, but still, nearly $700 for a TB? foul! I cry! . :)

Anyway they do that with processors, memory. optical drives, whatever...start small so they sell more along the way, instead of going directly to the big one that will do the job for yrs to come.

At home i use a Lenovo thinkpad. It's a 30's edition and works fine. I've got a 250 gig solid state insidee it that I swear by. Those things really speed things up
Same as before. Except I upgraded to 1 terabyte and Windows 10.
